Veronica's Boutique at Guadalupe Community Center provides free material assistance including diapers, wipes, baby clothes, baby shoes, socks, formula, and baby food.

Parenting education and guidance are also offered in a one-on-one setting with wraparound services like birth doulas, breastfeeding consultation, counseling, and other support offered through case management.

One-time emergency financial assistance to prevent homelessness and utility disconnection as well as provide financial coaching and budgeting assessment for income-eligible individuals and families.

Guadalupe Home is a transitional shelter for pregnant and parenting mothers and their babies who find themselves homeless and are interested in making a change for a hopeful future through full-time education enrollment or employment.

Case management, parenting education, life skills training, and counseling are provided.

Mothers and babies receive free room and board with the condition that they attend school or work full time to save money for the next step in their journey. While living in the care of Catholic Charities, mothers are empowered to achieve their goals and plan for their future.

Our goal is to provide basic needs while a mother works toward self-sufficiency by getting an education, finding a job, and saving money for the next step in her journey.

To be eligible, women must be:

• Homeless or lack a stable residence
• 18 years or older
• Pregnant or have 1-2 children under the age of 3 years in their care
• Committed to completing high school or earning a GED
• Seeking employment or are employed with the goal of financial independence

Those who live at Guadalupe Home will receive:

• Private, furnished rooms with a single bed for mothers and a crib for children
• Common living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathroom areas
• Shared responsibilities and expectations for the home

Those who live at Guadalupe Home will not receive:

• Childcare: Guadalupe Home will assist with those resources
• Transportation: Guadalupe Home is near a bus line
• Food: Mothers are responsible for purchasing and preparing their own meals

Support services are provided to nurture families and promote self-sufficiency:

Parenting Education

Mothers learn about happy and healthy mother-baby relationships as educators teach the importance of developmental milestones, parenting tips and techniques, structured routine, positive discipline, and setting limits.

Financial Literacy

Staff and volunteers host classes and provide guidance to mothers to pay debt and save for a secure future.

Job Readiness

Computer resources and guidance is available for mothers to make informed decisions about employment to meet their financial goals.

Counseling

Qualified counselors are available to help mothers heal and break the cycle of abuse and neglect.

The Mobile Relief Unit and Shower Trailer, affectionately known by the community as Hope and Faith, provide immediate family and support services throughout San Antonio and the surrounding 19 counties of the Archdiocese of San Antonio. The Mobile Relief Unit includes a mobile food pantry and USDA-certified kitchen to serve warm, fresh meals. The shower trailer has two bathroom units with a sink, toilet, and shower, as well as laundry machines.

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) offers nutrition assistance to millions of eligible, low-income individuals and families and provides economic benefits to communities.

Catholic Charities can help with basic needs while you work toward self-sufficiency. St. Stephen’s CARE Center provides Compassion, Aid, Respect, and Empowerment to those who need us most.

Food Pantry Individuals and families in need of food are offered bundles of non-perishable food items which can last up to two weeks. Clients are also offered recipes for provisions in order to maximize the use of their food bundle. In the event an individual who is homeless seeks food from the Food Pantry, they are offered foods sensitive to their situation. Clothes Closet Individuals and families in need of clothing may visit our on-site Clothes Closet. The clothes, shoes, and accessories are organized by clothing type, color, and size. In addition, basic household items such as plates, cups, and cookware are also offered.

St Stephen's Care Center also serves as a Texas Diaper Bank distribution point.

Requirements:

• ID for every household member
• Social Security for every household member
• Current Utility bill

One person may pick up food for the household as long as they have the above requirements, you must go inside to receive food.

Grace Counseling offers quality, holistic, and affordable therapy to individuals, children, couples, and families.

Specialties include anxiety, depression, and stress management, grief and loss, relationship and marriage counseling, parenting concerns and adjustment, and anger management.

Additionally, counselors will be able to provide specialized and expert care in healing a child and his/her family following a trauma through trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and sand tray therapy.

Therapy is offered in both Spanish and English.

Provides legal aid to low-income and immigrant families, as well as to victims of crime, domestic violence, and human trafficking.

Participants are offered legal information, and if necessary, referrals to legal aid or to other attorneys who may work on a sliding scale or a payment plan.

Our lawyers are experienced in multiple fields to offer clients the best legal advice on a wide range of legal issues:

• Guardianship – Legal help for family members of individuals who are unable to secure food, clothing, or shelter for themselves or need help making decisions.

• Financial Wellness and Care – Legal aid for those who have limited ability to manage their personal finances.

At Caritas Legal Services, we will try our best to find immigration relief that will allow you to stay in the USA and work legally. This program offers assistance for anyone over the age of 18 who is receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and or Social Security Administration (SSA) benefits. The Financial Wellness and Care program applies to Social Security on the client's behalf so Catholic Charities can become their Representative Payee. The goal of this program is to prevent financial abuse, neglect, and exploitation of the SSI recipients in the community.

The program currently charges all clients a $45 a month fee and ensures the client's bills will be paid on time.
