Amenities such as basketball courts, playgrounds, outdoor fitness stations, skate plazas, Natatorium (indoor pool), Barrera Fitness Center, and the reservations lobby at Parks Headquarters are planned for reopening in Phase 3 of the City’s Return to Work Plan.
It’s important to remember that indicators for public access to facilities and park amenities in each Phase include: a stable decrease of new COVID-19 cases; appropriate support for medically at-risk populations; and, the ability to effectively monitor, test, trace, and isolate new cases. Updates on the reopening of park amenities will be posted on the Department’s website at saparksandrec.com and social media channels @saparksandrec.
Parks & Trails
City parks, trails, dog parks, disc golf courses, tennis courts, bathrooms, and open green spaces are open. Gatherings of more than 10 people are prohibited in any city park or plaza. McFarlin Tennis Center is available by reservation only.
Outdoor Park Amenities
City park basketball courts, outdoor exercise equipment, playgrounds, skate plazas, pools, and splash pads are currently closed.
Facilities
City Parks and Recreation indoor facilities including community and adult/senior centers, clubhouses, Natatorium (indoor pool) and gyms are closed. The Park reservations counter at Ron Darner Headquarters is closed to the public.
Programming
All other classes and programming are currently suspended.

If you choose to visit a park, please follow CDC and local health guidelines and practice social distancing.
The San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department operates the City's recreational and cultural programs and maintains more than 240 City-owned parks including swimming pools, gymnasiums, historic cemeteries, sports facilities, recreation centers and the Botanical Garden and Conservatory. The department is responsible for the maintenance of 15,337.5950 acres of park land, including more than 150 miles of walking, hiking, and biking trails.
