Southside First Economic Development Council is a non-profit organization that promotes economic development across south San Antonio and Bexar County by providing resources and support to encourage business development, foster growth, and develop resilience.

Southside First’s mission is to encourage, energize, and elevate entrepreneurs and small business owners in the Southside to achieve sustainability and growth. We do this through workshops, events, resources, advising services, and strategic partnerships that provide equal access to economic opportunities and cultural and community enrichment.

The “¡Échale Gas!” Small Business Workshops allow Southside small business owners and entrepreneurs to learn the fundamentals and the latest trends for effective business development and management.

The workshops educate and connect participants with resources to support small business development, expansion, and retention.

Southside First conducts monthly, in-person, and online free small business workshops in strategic locations throughout San Antonio’s Southside, which includes City of San Antonio Council Districts 3, 4, and 5.

The programming is based on Southside First’s Community and Business Surveys conducted in the Quintana and Mission San Jose neighborhoods and in partnership with the St. Mary’s University Harvey Najim Center for Business Innovation and Social Responsibility.
