Friday Socials are an opportunity for young adults within the Asperger, HFA, and Neurodiverse community to have a place to socialize, make friends, and become part of a community of their peers.

Pizza and sodas are served during the social.

The house is spacious enough for several activities to go on simultaneously: video games, board games, or just hanging out, chatting, or mingling.

We ask that either the parent or young adult join our Meetup Group and RSVP whenever they can attend the Friday Social. Someone wanting to attend can also email Liz Kane or text 210 580 0109.

To have an idea of how many pizzas to order, RSVPs are important.

Parents may not participate in the social.

We do not charge for this social opportunity, but donations are appreciated.

Shire House offers and manages Shared Housing Programs for adults 18 and over within the HFA (formerly known as Aspergers) and Neurodiverse community.

Here's how it works:

  • Shire House holds the lease on the particular property.
  • There is an Agreement between the housemate and parents or just the housemate; Shire House manages the agreements.
  • The housemate understands they are committing to participate in a Shared Housing program.
  • The fees for each home are tailored by the cost of the rent, utilities, and amenities such as food.
  • The housemate must be employed or have other financial resources to pay for or purchase expenses outlined in the parent agreement or the Shire House Shared Housing Agreement.
  • The housemate understands they are committing to participate in a Shared Housing program.
  • The housemate will be asked to exit the program if they are not adhering to the Shared Housing agreement.
  • Shire House provides guidance and support when a client transitions out of Shire House to their particular independent living setting.

Here are three ways you can play a part at Shire House:

  • Contact us if you have a home in the San Antonio area that you would like to lease to Shire House to use as a Shared Housing home.
  • Donate to our scholarship fund or community activities. As much as we work at keeping our costs affordable for our Shared Housing housemates there are qualified applicants who struggle to meet the Shared Housing fees. Our Scholarship Fund makes room for them.
  • Donate to our community activities. We also welcome donations in support of our Friday Socials and other community activities.

We're on Venmo! Donate to our cause right from the app.
