The Development Services Department (DSD) is responsible for protecting the health, safety, and quality of life of the citizens of San Antonio through the regulation of land and building development. Development Services Department (DSD) offers development and building development activities such as plan/plat review, permitting, and inspections.

The Development Services Department regulates land and building development and enforces property maintenance and building-related codes to help maintain a vibrant quality of life for our residents.

We support the City’s economic development by reviewing proposed projects and granting approval to develop land and build commercial and residential structures.

In addition, we coordinate with other City departments and outside agencies to help residents, commercial entities and business owners complete their projects as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Bexar County Sheriff’s Office patrols most of the areas in Bexar County that are not incorporated into the City of San Antonio. 

 The Ministry of the Third Cross (MOTC) is a retreat ministry for persons in the criminal justice system. Through the weekend retreats, attendees experience the love of Jesus Christ within a Spirit filled, supportive, community environment. The retreats are times of reflection, repentance and renewal.

The Reentry Council is a group of government, non-profit, faith-based, and private citizens created for the purpose of initiating a dialogue on issues related to the Reentry of offenders back into the local community. These individuals represent the criminal justice, legal, judicial, mental health, faith-based, substance abuse, health care, employment assistance, education, social services, and advocacy professions.

With strategic partnerships, planning and implementation, My City is My Homes seeks to serve as a one stop shop for tenants and homeowners alike seeking relief or resources to maintain housing.

The Bexar County Elections Department is responsible for voter registration activities and election operations throughout the county.

Our program is a conservative training model which incorporates strategically placed incentives to encourage and motivate our participants to become strong, healthy athletes and individuals.

Street2Feet removes the barriers to exercise and health by introducing walking and running as an accessible/sustainable habit that builds community and empowers participants to develop a healthy life, regardless of income, zip code, or socioeconomic status.

I Care San Antonio (ICSA) is a faith-based, medical non-profit organization. The I Care Vision Center, located at Haven for Hope, is the leading free vision clinic in San Antonio and is managed primarily by 40 volunteer doctors who continue to provide complete eye care, including medical, optical and surgical, to those who cannot afford it. I Care San Antonio is the only center of its kind in the U.S. that provides such a complete circle of eye care.

Since 1974, St. Vincent de Paul has addressed the plight of the homeless who live on the streets and the working poor.

In 2010, St Vinnys Bistro® was created specifically to provide three hot, nutritional meals each day, 365 days a year, in the Courtyard at Haven for Hope.

In 2020, St Vinnys Bistro was established as a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit.

Thrive Youth Center's mission is to provide a safe, effective, and supportive center for homeless LGBTQ youth, so they may become productive, skilled, educated, and successful adults with the ability, opportunity, and possibility of achieving their dreams.

Homelessness prevention help in San Antonio is critical for those in recovery after treatment. We provide assistance to men and women who are coming out of drug or alcohol rehab or incarceration and need a safe, clean and sober living environment to prevent relapse and reduce the likelihood of more homeless families.
