Hill Country MHDD provides Outpatient Treatment Services called "HODOS" for Adults 18 years and older. HODOS stands for:

Hill Country MHDD

Outreach for chemical

Dependency and

Outpatient

Services

"HODOS" is an ancient Greek word that portrays an image of a path or way in a culture where walking was the primary mode of transportation. Walking on a path involves choosing to enter on the path and to pursue it in each direction, progress toward a destination, addressing safety and not getting lost, and arriving at a goal.

The purpose of this name is to focus on a "a shift away from crisis-oriented, deficit-focused, and professionally-directed models of care to a vision of care that is directed by people in recovery, emphasizes the reality and hope of long-term recovery, and recognizes the many pathways to healing for people with addiction and mental health challenges" (Surgeon General Report). In focusing on person-centered services, each individual is assessed and specific services tailored to what is important to them are created.

Adult Supportive Outpatient Treatment is individual and group therapy for individuals struggling with substance abuse issues and their families. One of our goals at HCCADA is to keep the families together while their loved ones are successfully going through treatment. That is what Supportive Outpatient Treatment provides: the opportunity to heal not only the individual affected by addictions, but also their families by allowing the individual to still work and meet other family obligations and participate in treatment simultaneously.

To determine the most effective counseling or treatment, you will receive a thorough clinical assessment at your first visit. Fortunately, this assessment is covered by most insurance plans. You can come alone or have your family accompany you. Based on that assessment, we will recommend the best course of treatment, which may include individual, family, or group counseling by our therapists.

Outpatient treatment involves a series of weekly counseling session comprised of 5 hours of therapy: two 2-hour group sessions and one 1 individual counseling session.

Treatment continues until you have mastered basic skills for self-care and constant recovery. Your therapist will assist you in developing a strong discharge/recovery plan before your last session.

To schedule an outpatient screening appointment, come by and fill out the outpatient registration form, and bring with you:

  • Your photo ID,
  • Proof of insurance

We will call you to set up an appointment.

We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicaid.

Financial assistance may be available. (Limited based on eligibility).

This beautiful treatment center is nestled in the heart of the Texas hill country, just outside of historic Fredericksburg. Known for its peach orchards, vineyards, and historic downtown, Fredericksburg epitomizes rest, relaxation, and retreat. It is the perfect setting for our patients to get away from the status quo and find freedom from drug and alcohol addiction.

The residential treatment program at the Fredericksburg treatment center accommodates 32 patients. Patients in need of detoxification will be sent to our Abilene campus for detox before beginning the residential treatment program in Fredericksburg.

Our Fredericksburg campus is staffed by highly-trained, licensed counselors from a variety of backgrounds.  Our counselors know that reclaiming one’s life is no easy task; it is a step-by-step process that requires an immense amount of support.  That is why every patient is given an personalized treatment plan that involves one-on-one counseling, group counseling, education, health and fitness time, relaxation, family counseling, and many other crucial recovery services.

This plan will involve group counseling, individual counseling, classes and group processing, fitness and nutrition, and regular twelve-step meetings. We aim to treat the primary addiction to drugs and alcohol with an eye to the patient’s particular situation, especially any complicating factors – cross-addiction, co-occurring conditions, mental health conditions, etc.

We offer optional programming for those who desire to incorporate Christian beliefs into their recovery.

Many Christians struggle alone with chemical dependency for fear of rejection. At La Hacienda, we recognize addiction as a serious disease, rather than moral inadequacy, that affects the mind, body, and spirit. For those who desire to incorporate their Christian faith into their recovery, group and individual counseling is provided which includes recognition of the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

Those patients who desire to participate in the Christian focus groups do so in addition to all other programming. Our clinical staff includes a minister who facilitates five groups each week.

These special counseling groups explore:

  • Biblical scripture and the relationship to the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous
  • The spiritual nature of human relationships
  • The importance of forgiveness in healing
  • Other essential components of spirituality in recovery
  • Gaining insight into the important aspects of recovery, and learning how it interrelates with Christian faith, helps our patients experience renewed hope from their core beliefs.

Visitation time is reserved for those wishing to visit with a pastor or priest. Our staff minister is available for individual counseling and assistance for patients, family members, and area pastors, as requested.

Co-occurring disorders happen when a person has a substance use disorder at the same time as a mental health disorder.

While commonly used to refer to the combination of substance use and mental disorders, the term can also refer to other combinations of disorders, such as a medical condition and substance abuse, or a mood disorder and substance abuse.

Understanding addiction and co-occurring disorders is part of what makes La Hacienda Treatment Center unique. Our medical and clinical staff screen for both substance use disorder and co-occurring mental illness, then prepare an integrated treatment plan based on the individual patient.

La Hacienda is the place to initiate sobriety and to learn to stay sober. Within 3-5 weeks of entering our comprehensive treatment program, patients have completed most phases of residential treatment, including detoxification, individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, specialized classes, activities therapy, and detailed instruction in 12 Step application.

For 50 years, individuals and families seeking to improve their lives have come to our serene campus to heal and join the growing number of those who have successfully left behind their addictions.

Young people in their late teens and early twenties suffering from substance use disorders still have the chance to change course and achieve successful recovery.

La Hacienda Treatment Center recognizes that ending substance abuse is especially important for young adults who still have most of their lives ahead of them.

That’s why we have a substance abuse treatment program just for the age group and support collegiate recovery programs to help those in college receive recovery support services.

  • On-campus 12-step meetings
  • A drop-in safe space

La Hacienda enhances the relapsed patient’s potential for long-term sobriety through the specialized and focused treatment of our Relapse Program.

Our experience teaches us that relapse is a process – recognizable, preventable, and treatable. Before the recovering person starts to use alcohol or other drugs again, there is a pattern of behavior that starts with the return of denial and is marked by symptoms of isolation, depression, high levels of stress, and impaired judgment.

La Hacienda’s Relapse Program provides specialized education and process groups that focus on the specific problematic issues the patient is presenting.

Those who have relapsed can explore thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that contributed to their relapse and identify future threats to recovery. Patients learn to identify mistaken beliefs about relapse and their justifications and relapse warning signs. They also work through the shame, guilt, and fear associated with having been on the road to recovery and then relapsing.

We have found that many of our patients who have relapsed have lost their focus on the 12 Steps. La Hacienda emphasizes step work and offers assistance to these patients in moving beyond their previous “stuck points”. Patients help develop their own continuing care plans and are encouraged to find counselors and 12-step sponsors who are compatible with relapse prevention concepts.
