The SAISD Adult Education Literacy (AEL) program embraces success for all adult learners, helping them define what success means to them in order to guide them on a path toward continued improvement and growth. The program’s mission is to ensure that all adults who live in Texas have the skills necessary to function effectively in their personal and family lives, in the workplace and in the community.
The SAISD Adult and Community Education program offers the following classes at over 23 locations throughout San Antonio, Monday through Thursday and on Saturday (morning and evenings).

Services offered under the Adult Education are FREE of charge to the community and include the following:
- ASE/GED preparation
- ABE/ASE/GED for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
recipients - Adult Basic Education in English & Spanish (Math, Reading and Writing)
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- English Literacy Civics (EL Civics)/Citizenship
- Preparation for post-secondary education and training (Transitions)
- Distance Learning (online classes)
New classes:
- IT Fundamentals+ Certification
- Basic Computer Skills Certification
Specialized services include:
- IET career training combined with workforce preparation and academic support
- Integrated EL CIVICS (ESL/EL CIVICS/Career Training)
- Employer partnerships: Contextualized TXCHSE or ESL based on employer needs

The Sunshine Cottage Day School provides children who are deaf or hard of hearing the auditory-oral foundation to become independent and active participants of the hearing world. Our children utilize state-of-the-art hearing technology to develop listening and spoken language to communicate naturally and effectively without the use of sign language.
We are a Texas Education Agency (TEA) approved non-public, non-profit school for children who are deaf or hard of hearing, as well as children with typical hearing. All children enrolled in the day-school program benefit from a research-based curriculum to develop both language and academic skills in an experience-based environment.

Sunshine Cottage, a listening and spoken language school, is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement, OPTIONSchools International, and is a Texas Education Agency Approved non-public school. We accept students of any race, color, national or ethnic origin.
Families of students who are deaf or hard of hearing are charged on a sliding scale according to the previous year’s income.
Students with typical hearing are charged a flat monthly fee.
Scholarships are available.
Through a partnership with Avance, Good Sam provides access to high-quality early learning opportunities for infants and toddlers.
This program also works with the needs of families served, from the time of pregnancy through the child's third birthday.
Early Head Start is a program of Good Sam's Child Development Services, with the goal of providing safe and developmentally enriching services to infants and toddlers, promoting the physical, cognitive, social and emotional development, and preparing children to leave Good Sam "school ready" and have a solid foundation for lifelong learning.
To quality for the Early Head Start program, you must:
- Meet income requirements
- Have an eligible child* who is 0 - 3 years of age
- Live within the following zip codes: 78227, 78237, 78201, 78207, 78204, 78225, 78210, 78211, 78214, 78221, 78224, and 78228.

Parent/Child, Incorporated, most often referred to as PCI, offers a quality early childhood program that includes education, physical and mental health, nutrition, disability support, family support, job training and professional development, substance abuse education, and more.
Early Head Start is for children 6 weeks to 35 months old.
Head Start is for children 3 and 4 years old.
