The SAISD Adult Education Literacy (AEL) program embraces success for all adult learners, helping them define what success means to them in order to guide them on a path toward continued improvement and growth. The program’s mission is to ensure that all adults who live in Texas have the skills necessary to function effectively in their personal and family lives, in the workplace and in the community.
The SAISD Adult and Community Education program offers the following classes at over 23 locations throughout San Antonio, Monday through Thursday and on Saturday (morning and evenings).

Services offered under the Adult Education are FREE of charge to the community and include the following:
- ASE/GED preparation
- ABE/ASE/GED for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF)
recipients - Adult Basic Education in English & Spanish (Math, Reading and Writing)
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- English Literacy Civics (EL Civics)/Citizenship
- Preparation for post-secondary education and training (Transitions)
- Distance Learning (online classes)

Specialized services include:
- IET career training combined with workforce preparation and academic support
- Integrated EL CIVICS (ESL/EL CIVICS/Career Training)

Offers a range of information from basic money and financial management principles, to entrepreneurial services, asset protection and financial inclusion for youth and immigrants. All programs are offered in English and Spanish, contact us for upcoming workshops or events.

The work of the Secretariat for Mission in the fields of Life, Justice and Peace focuses on issues such as abortion and post-abortion healing, assisted suicide, the death penalty, human trafficking, homelessness, poverty, immigration, foster care, healthcare, religious freedom, and environmental justice, aiming to develop an authentic human ecology for the communities of San Antonio.
To build a culture of life, justice, and peace in our communities and beyond, the Archdiocese offers educational and formational lectures, information, and resources on the Works of Mercy and Catholic Social Teaching. We assist in building and sustaining strategic leadership in parishes and with community partners through training, advocacy, prayer and service.
The Migrant Resource Center (MRC) provides a safe and welcoming place for migrants traveling through San Antonio. Assistance includes:
- Navigation and Case Management Services
- Local Transportation
- Food and commodities
- Phones and internet access to connect with host families
The MRC serves people legally traveling through San Antonio to their host city destinations across the country.
We offer psychological evaluations for immigration purposes.
All immigration evaluations are done by an appropriately trained psychotherapist who is experienced in the specific type of evaluation you need for your immigration petition.
Immigration evaluations we offer include:
- VAWA Evaluations (Violence Against Women Act Immigration Petitions)
- Hardship Evaluations for 601-Waiver Cancellation of Removal for Deportation, and J-1 Visa
- Psychological Evaluations for Immigration

Assistance with basic needs, such as clothing, household items, furniture, food, and referrals to other local social services.
This program is for REFUGEES ONLY.
CRS provides classes in practical English for adults to help newly arrived refugees navigate their new homes. Lower levels include greetings, basic conversational language structures, the calendar, numbers, and health, emphasizing vocabulary building.
Higher units of study include vocabulary for everyday needs, such as words needed in the grocery store, bank, post office, or doctor’s office, and how to navigate housing and transportation.
This program is for legally resettled refugees.
Eligible students pay a $10 supply fee each term.

Justice For Our Neighbors is a ministry of hospitality that welcomes immigrants by providing affordable (and sometimes free) high-quality immigration legal service to low-income immigrants, engaging in advocacy for immigrant rights, and offering education to communities of faith and the public.

At Hawks Counseling & Assessment Services, we provide thorough and compelling psychological evaluations for individuals and families who are navigating the immigration process.
Our psychologists are specially trained to help you through the process.
Most evaluations require 2-3 appointments with our psychologist.

Insurance plans generally do not cover psychological evaluations for legal procedures. We do offer payment plans for all clients.
The total cost for the process, including an extensive report for your attorney, is $900.

Gii offers refugees and political asylees opportunities to obtain job training, education assistance, and language proficiency training. Our services include:
For adults, Gii provides TOEFL training to fluent English speakers who want to teach English to Afghan refugees. In addition to providing newly arrived Afghans with English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, GII also assists with the test preparation for the CDL exam, professional training for fields such as customer service, and other fast-track job readiness training. To boost a sense of familiar home life, Gii also supports a cooking program, sewing and quilting program, and gardening club (through access to a local community garden).
For youth, Gii provides mentoring and tutoring/homework study sessions.
ImmSchools designs and implements effective professional development for educators and school staff that builds awareness, knowledge and skills to create safe and welcoming learning spaces for undocumented students and their families.
