The Senior Center offers hot, nutritious lunches daily as part of its nutrition program.

Free health screenings are regularly available through a partnership with the University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio.

Throughout the year, the Senior Center also hosts various holiday and cultural celebrations.

For many seniors living in the surrounding community, Good Sam fulfills a vital need, reducing social isolation and improving their quality of life.

Our location allows for a greener experience, where you can escape the hustle of the city and relax in the midst of the parkland that graces our shores. And, if you would like to help us maintain the river, ask one of our Guides to hook you up with a river cleanup kit.

The Expedition School also offers rentals for special events – SUP Birthday Parties, wedding parties, or teambuilds. Group Paddles offer special pricing, dedicated guide(s) to help plan and execute the event, environmental education, and lifeguard(s) support. The Expedition School can accommodate groups of all sizes, ages, and needs.

We also offer guided paddles, led by our professional guides and educators, to offer additional peace of mind while you are on the water. We guide these paddles to offer water safety and drowning prevention, flora and fauna identification, environmental education, and moral support! Get in touch if you have something in mind. We specialize in custom, guided experiences!

Walk-up rentals are always available. Reservations are recommended for larger groups.

Believe It Foundation partners with schools and districts to scale social inclusion and create on-ramps for authentic relationships, stretching experiences, and future opportunities. Believe It Foundation partners with schools to shift from institutional inclusion to authentic social inclusion. The Foundation provides programming for schools that bring youth together around physical activity and social interaction - the Believe It Bikes in Schools Program and Partners in PE. These programs work together starting with providing adaptive bikes to our local school districts. Once the bikes are in place, PE and Special Education teachers provide regular fitness activities for students with physical challenges using the bikes. Partners in PE is the program that districts implement to train and integrate typical peers into school events centered around adaptive bikes.

PYD provides organized sports activities for children 4-12 years of age. Children benefit strongly when they participate in physical activities that are fun, safe, and that foster a sense of self-worth and belonging. The PYD program offers sports leagues and water training, through which boys and girls can develop self-awareness, improve fitness and increase their development of interpersonal skills. With the use of Character Counts curriculum, PYD emphasizes the life lessons that one can learn from participation in a team situation. PYD brings families together, as children learn, develop self-confidence and participate in sports activities.

Grades 3-5:

Girls on the Run inspires girls of all abilities to recognize their individual strengths, while building a sense of connection in a team setting. At the end of the season, the team completes a 5K together, which provides a tangible sense of accomplishment and sets a confident mindset into motion.

Outdoor fitness equipment is available at this and other parks throughout the city. Enjoy the great outdoors while getting fit and toning those muscles. Your own outdoor gym!

These outdoor fitness stations feature high-quality equipment that allows you to combine your cardio workout on the trails with a total body workout on the equipment. The majority of the installations were made possible by an Americans Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funded grant entitled Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW).

Get out there and enjoy the fresh air and the scenery while getting fit.
