AGORA Hope Pantry is our bi-monthly relationship ministry with a food distribution. Our goal is not just to feed, but to develop relationships with our families. Our Hope Pantry is where this begins. We share tacos, donuts, coffee and water with our families; we break bread together. Then we have a short bi-lingual service and a food distribution.

We provide food to our near community, which has the lowest per capita income of any zip code in San Antonio.

Our hope pantry is every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Come join us in serving our community!

No registration requirement.

If you would like to volunteer, click here. Volunteers also have to fill out the Covid Waiver found here.

We ask volunteers to arrive at 8:30 AM on Wednesday.

In the Scriptures, Christ calls us to be good stewards of our gifts and share with those less fortunate. For this reason, we have established a food pantry to help our fellow brothers and sisters with their immediate needs.

Those in need can receive gifts of nonperishable food items donated by our congregation and surrounding business and community leaders.

The Lord continues to provide for us in this ministry, but we always need help. To donate, you may bring items to church on Sunday or drop them by the office during regular office hours.

We are hunger fighters.

For nearly forty years, Our Lord’s Table food pantry, a fruitful partnership amongst St. Paul’s, the neighborhood, and the San Antonio Food Bank, has contributed to hunger relief for thousands of San Antonio’s most impoverished.

Our Lord’s Table is a direct connection of taking our experience of Christ in the Eucharist to serving him in the poor. Volunteers from the parish and the neighborhood gather twice a month at the church to distribute groceries to over one hundred families.

There is a continuing need for funds to purchase food from the San Antonio Food Bank for distribution to those with food insecurity in St. Paul’s immediate neighborhoods. If you can contribute to this hallmark ministry of St. Paul’s, please designate your gift to “Our Lord’s Table,” and the parish treasurer will acknowledge it. Your generosity and willingness to take action are critical to the continued success of this ministry.

Time Dollar is committed to providing food that is healthy and nutritious based on availability. Boxes or bags are prepared to include food from each food group. We try to make it as nutritious as possible. We include fresh herbs and vegetables from our Jardín de la Esperanza community garden.

Through our partnership with the Yard Farmers and Ranchers Market, we are also able to include fresh locally grown and organic vegetables, herbs, artisanal breads, free-range eggs, artisanal cheese, condiments, and
sometimes pork or beef. All food items are based on availability. The food pantry is open to all residents of Bexar County once per month who meet income guidelines.

Through our Garden Program, we include a spring and fall series titled “Gardening and Sustainable Living Classes.” We teach Square Foot Gardening to those who come to our Time Dollar Community Table food pantry. People learn to use a simple square-foot gardening technique, which uses 20% of the space, 20% of the water, and 20% of the work but still produces 100% of the harvest. This garden-to-table process provides nutritious, chemical-free vegetables and herbs.

Ground-level or tabletop garden frames are provided. Class series include techniques in planting, herbs & companion planting, household use of herbs, composting, water saving, organic pest control, saving seeds, nutrition, healthy cooking, diabetes management through food, sustainable cooking & refrigeration, canning, and use of traditional medicinal plants for healing. Garden-to-table eating is promoted throughout our classes for health.

Our program is unique in that we provide descriptions of unusual vegetables along with storage, cooking instructions, and recipes. We also provide cooking demos and their respective recipes so our guests can taste these types of vegetables. We provide nutrition classes focusing on diabetes, healthy eating, and using vegetables from your garden.

This program is designed to provide for basic needs for our “neighbors". Time Dollar uses a two-step approach in our work.

The first step is called “giving fish” through our “Los Vecinos” (neighbors) program where we provide food, eye glasses through Prevent Blindness Texas and service referrals.

The second step is "Basic Case Management" where we offer help filling out forms, reading letters, providing service referrals and any other type of assistance required based on the need.

Christmas gifts are provided through Elf Louise Penelope.

This program primarily serves residents of zip code 78207.

Food for people, not for profit.

In November 2016, Cristo Rey of Hope opened the Food Pantry at a local church and served 15 families that month. Since then, we have outgrown the church and moved to our own location (2942 W Houston St, 78207) and we serve over 1000 families a month. We are a Client Choice Pantry where families get to “shop” and choose items that are the best fit for their family. We do not serve a specific area or zip code; if you come to our door in need, you WILL be served!

With the unprecedented effects of the recent pandemic Cristo Rey of Hope has seen a dramatic decrease in our canned food and monetary donations. When the stock at the San Antonio Food Bank runs low, we do not have access to obtain food from them for our Pantry. We are always accepting donations of shelf stable foods (canned goods including vegetables & fruit, rice, beans, breakfast items, etc…) as well as gift cards to H.E.B. and Wal-Mart. We are always in need of hygiene items. Any little bit goes a long way in helping make a difference in the lives of so many families within our community.
