Early Head Start provides comprehensive child and family development services year-round for low-income families with infants and toddlers ages birth to three years.
The program aims to enhance children's physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development for school readiness; to support parents' efforts to fulfill their parental roles; and to help parents move toward self-sufficiency.
AVANCE-San Antonio offers a two-option program: a home-based option and a center-based option at licensed childhood development centers.

Head Start is a federally funded program provided at no cost for qualifying families.
Head Start provides quality preschool education services to children 3-4 years of age for working or school-enrolled parents in a licensed child development facility that meets Federal Income Poverty Guidelines and primarily resides in the Harlandale Independent School District.
Services are provided through a combination model of comprehensive education services to eligible children. Education services promote each child’s physical, social, emotional and cognitive development to achieve school readiness measures and successful Head Start child outcomes. Additional comprehensive family and community support services provided include health, mental health, parenting, nutrition, early intervention for at-risk or developmentally delayed children and case management system.

- X-rays (referral to Hospital)
Women’s Health:
For females, routine pelvic and breast examinations, Pap tests, contraceptive services, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment are available. If applicable, referrals to an OB/GYN for prenatal care.
- Breast and Cervical Cancer Services
Pediatric Care:
Our providers and staff are dedicated to ensuring that you child’s care with us is pleasant . Services include well child and acute care to newborns and children up to 18 years of age.
- Immunizations for children are offered at most of our clinic sites.
- Checkups, physicals, and Texas Health Steps.
Health Education:
- Self-management Goals: Diabetes, HTN, Obesity
- Nutrition Counseling
- Exercise Equipment Available
- Health Fairs

Accurate information about Tourette’s syndrome is disseminated to physicians, educators, parents, and families and at events throughout the state, such as Health Fairs.
In-service presentations are made to school districts and annual Educational presentations are scheduled across the state at the start of school for college students, parents, and young adults.
