Early Head Start programs provide family-centered services for low-income families with very young children. These programs are designed to promote the development of the children and to enable their parents to fulfill their roles as parents and to move toward self-sufficiency.
Early Head Start is for children 6 weeks to 35 months of age.
Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children by providing educational, health, nutritional, social, and other services to enrolled children and families.

Eligibility requirements:
- The child must be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1.
- The family must live in Atascosa County.
Families must meet at least one of these additional conditions to be eligible:
- The family is receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF).
- The family’s gross income falls below the federal poverty guidelines.
- A family member living with and being supported by you is receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
- The child is in foster care.
- The family is homeless.

General Primary Care:
Our primary care services include preventative health care and routine medical care, such as physical exams, treatment of common problems (colds, vomiting, infections); acute, as well as chronic illnesses such as asthma or diabetes.

- X-rays (referral to Hospital)
Women’s Health:
For females, routine pelvic and breast examinations, Pap tests, contraceptive services, sexually transmitted infection testing and treatment are available. If applicable, referrals to an OB/GYN for prenatal care.

Pediatric Care:
Our providers and staff are dedicated to ensuring that you child’s care with us is pleasant . Services include well child and acute care to newborns and children up to 18 years of age.

The Men’s Health Program includes PSA Testing, a blood test that screens for prostate cancer, as well as skin, colon and testicular cancer screening. Other treatments pertain to heart disease and diabetes and mental health wellness. Given that more women than men seek Clinic services, ANCC specifically plans to increase awareness and acceptability of treatment among male residents.

The Clinic’s Well-Woman Program provides a combination of primary and preventive care that focuses on gender-specific issues, such as:
- Reproductive health
- Birth control advice
- Pregnancy tests
- Screening for skin, colon, breast, and cervical cancer

- Prevention and treatment of heart disease and diabetes
