At the Green Beret Foundation, we know that one of the most important ways we can honor and assist our warriors is by giving their families a welcoming and supportive community.

Steel Mags Sisterhood

The Steel Mags program, exclusive to the Green Beret Foundation, provides them with the unconditional support, access to critical resources, advocacy, and experienced guidance that they need to build successful and thriving lives for themselves and their families. As the wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters of Green Berets, the Steel Mags embody the warrior ethos as they face life’s challenges and adversity head-on.

The Next Ridgeline

The Green Beret Foundation’s Next Ridgeline program recognizes that no two Green Berets are alike. So, to be effective, our program goals strive to provide a self-driven, individualized experience. This will allow each Green Beret to utilize the sources, networks, and opportunities that are unique as he is.

By leveraging a diverse group of veteran organizations that specifically work in select areas, the Next Ridgeline program will work to develop each Green Beret’s core capabilities, enhancing his performance in our focus areas and creating a superior individual who is prepared for transition into the civilian world.

  • Assess previous service documentation or records for a condition or an injury that could have potentially led to a service connection: the in-service injury or diagnosis.

Boysville offers graduating seniors the opportunity to further develop their adult skills while nurturing career and educational goals.

Each year, over 600 youth in Bexar County will age out of the foster care system without a support system to help them transition into adulthood. This age group is at-risk for homelessness, drug abuse, and incarceration. Our Supervised Independent Living Program is one of only eight programs in Texas to support young adults as they attend college or vocational school, work in the community, or enlist in the military.

Boysville’s Supervised Independent Living Program follows high school graduates as they progress from living at Boysville or in foster care to living independently by providing emotional and financial support as needed. Residents entering college or vocational school are eligible for book assistance, as well as living allowances. Housing, food allowance, and college living expenses as well as case management and therapeutic programs are offered to youths enrolled in the program.

A young adult must be working at least 80 hours a month, attending high school, taking 6 hours of college courses, or be involved in a volunteer/job skills program.

The application process:

  • Young adults must complete the SIL application and obtain a referral from their DFPS caseworker.
  • Once the referral and application are completed, it gets sent to state office for approval.
  • Young adults will be interviewed and tour of the program.
  • If accepted, the young adult must accept placement within 72 hours.

The Colburn-Pledge Music Scholarship provides college tuition assistance to young Texas string instrument players who are preparing for careers in classical music.

The scholarship awards are limited to the amount of the annual tuition to be charged by the school, college, university, or music teacher of the recipient’s choice, not to exceed $3,000 per recipient.

The scholarship was formerly associated under the auspices of The Colburn-Pledge Music Scholarship Foundation from 1985 to 2021, and now currently resides under the management of Musical Bridges Around the World. The previously-named foundation was formed by John Pledge with proceeds from the estates of his sister, Genevieve Pledge, and of Lois Colburn, both former members of the San Antonio Symphony, for the purpose of offering tuition aid to string players residing in Texas who are preparing for careers in classical music.

Applicants for financial aid must be music students pursuing the studies of a bowed string instrument (specifically violin, viola, cello, or double bass) in classical music at any nationally recognized music school, college, or university, or be studying with any nationally recognized music teacher, and have the intention of becoming a professional performing musician.

Applicants must be bona fide residents of the state of Texas on the date of making application and for a period of at least six (6) months prior thereto, or prior to having entered a music school, college, or university, if attending an out-of-state institution at the time of making such application.
