The scholarship will be awarded to a student enrolled in college in the state of Texas. Candidates will be evaluated on how they personify secular values, how they put those values into action as activists, and their goals for creating a more secular and humanistic future.

If you would like to donate to help FACT support a Texas secular student, click the “Donate” button at the bottom of the page and select the SSA Scholarship option. For more information on the scholarship.

What does FACT do?

We hold formal meetings on the third Saturday of most months. Those meetings often include nationally-known speakers on a wide range of secular topics. There is also a monthly Discussion Brunch on last Saturday of the month, and several luncheon meetings throughout the month. Our members have been involved in such community projects as building handicapped access ramps at private homes and volunteering at the San Antonio Food Bank. For more than 20 years FACT hosted a weekly program on Public Access TV. We occasionally hold family-friendly pot-lucks and we celebrate the Winter Solstice annually. See the Event Calendar page for our current schedule or join our Meetup group.

The Baptist Minister's Union of San Antonio & Vicinity is proud to continue to serve our community by providing scholarships to graduating high school seniors, current college students, and students studying religion at institutes of higher education.

This Scholarship Fund is named after one of San Antonio's former "champion's for education, the late Mr. Robert Washington, local businessman. We are grateful to Mrs. Washington to who continues to keep his legacy alive by partnering with the Union to fund a scholarship for a high school senior.

Because of the support of our members and community events, we are able to award $3,000 in scholarships each March. If you are a student, speak with your pastor to see if you are eligible.
