Significant hoarding can put individuals who hoard and their family members at serious risk of health problems, injury, removal of at-risk children or older adults from the home, homelessness, or in the worst case, even death.

To report hoarding for a Code Enforcement investigation, please contact the Call Center at 311 or (210) 207-6000. You may also contact Adult Protective Services if the person is elderly or disabled at (800) 252-5400.

311 is available seven days a week from 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM and 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM on holidays.

For residential customer use only; materials from commercial waste haulers will not be accepted.

Materials accepted at the Bulky Waste Collection Center differ from those accepted during curbside bulky item collection. Click here for a list of acceptable materials.

No bagged garbage is accepted.

There is a per-trip 4 cubic yard limit for bulk items and a 1 cubic yard limit for construction materials. 

No trailers will be accepted.

Materials loaded in trucks must not be over the fender wheel of the truck bed.

Free Landfill Days happen four times a year, once each quarter, and offer you an opportunity to get rid of all your unwanted bulky waste for free.

  • Tires (limit 6 passenger car tires per household)

  • Industrial waste
  • Lumber
  • Roofing materials
  • Sheetrock
  • Must be a City of San Antonio solid waste fee ratepayer.
  • Bring a valid picture ID.
  • Bring a copy of your most recent CPS Energy Statement showing payment of City Services for Solid Waste Fee.
  • Cover your loads with a tarp (by law, City Ordinance #2015-09-10-0760).

Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) should never be placed inside any cart for curbside collection and always be brought to an HHW Drop-Off Center.

Accepted Materials:

  • Auto fluids
  • Batteries
  • Cooking oil
  • E-waste
  • Fluorescent light fixtures and ballasts
  • Household cleaners and solvents
  • Lacquer, shellac, furniture polish
  • Oil filters
  • Paint
  • Pesticides
  • Pool chemicals
  • Printer cartridges

Unaccepted Materials:

  • Ammunition or fireworks
  • Commercial or medical waste
  • Medicine
  • Trash

Guidelines:

  • Contents should be kept in the original container.
  • If the container is leaking, transfer contents to a leakproof or lined cardboard box.
  • Do not mix different materials in the same container or bag.
  • Place all items in a box and put it in the trunk or truck bed during transport.
  • A technician will unload the HHW materials and return the containers upon request.
  • Materials brought in non-approved containers will not be accepted.
  • Paint and other liquid waste are limited to five 5-gallon cans or 25 1-gallon cans with a 220-pound limit.
