Friends of the Library volunteers provide an invaluable service to our community by delivering books, magazines, DVDs, Books-on-Tape, and other materials to patrons who are unable to come to the library themselves.

Today, four services come under the Homebound Program banner:

  • Our flagship Homebound Service for patrons with enduring disabilities;
  • Temporary Homebound Service for those who for a variety of reasons are temporarily unable to come to the library;
  • Our Big Bend Regional Medical Center (BBRMC) Periodical Service that keeps the waiting room periodical selection up-to-date;
  • Our Brewster County Jail Library Service that helps the jail staff maintain their inmate library.

Contact the library at 837-2621 for more information on these services.

There is no charge for this service.

This project has received some funding from a participating jurisdiction (local or state government agency) through the HUD HOME Investments Partnerships Program (HOME). In projects with five or more HOME-assisted units, at least 20% of these units must be occupied by families earning 50% or less of area median income (AMI). All other HOME-assisted units must be occupied by families earning 80% or less of AMI, but in practice most are reserved for families earning 60% or less AMI. Maximum monthly rent is capped with a Low HOME Rent for <50% AMI units and a High HOME Rent for the remaining HOME-assisted units. Contact the property directly for the specific dollar amount of these rent caps.
