Stephen Ministry is the one-to-one lay caring ministry that takes place in participating congregations. Stephen Ministry congregations equip and empower lay caregivers-called Stephen Ministers-to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting.
Male and female Stephen Ministers are paired with male and female Care Receivers respectively. Confidentiality is key to the ministry. Stephen Ministers receive support through supervision, continuing education, and coaching on a monthly basis.
Stephen Ministry is open to the public; church membership is not required.

¡Vamos Ya! is a Divine Redeemer Presbyterian Church ministry that serves at-risk youth in the near-Westside community of San Antonio, Texas. ¡Vamos Ya! guides our neighborhood youth to realize their full potential and grow into productive people through holistic support and caring relationships.
What started with community youth at Teen Night expressing the need for a safe place to develop their life skills and nurture their passions grew into House of Teens in 2003. As the program grew and connected to more families, it became evident that a program for community children was needed; this awareness brought about Peace Pals. In 2010, Multi-Level Educational Youth Outreach (MEYO) was created, encompassing Peace Pals, House of Teens, the Rivera Scholarship Fund, and supporting partnerships with other area organizations. 2012, our summer program Peace Camp began, and in 2018, MEYO became ¡Vamos Ya!

We aspire to unconditionally benefit all beings (including ourselves) in each moment, with awareness, energy, lovingkindness, compassion, joy, and equanimity, relaxing with what it is to realize awakening. Please do not imagine that you must develop all of these qualities before you sit with us. It is called “sitting practice,” not “sitting perfection.”
As part of San Antonio Zen Center’s goal to make the dharma accessible to everyone, our regularly scheduled sits and Saturday program will be available via Zoom.
Click here for our weekly schedule and Zoom information.
This is a mini-retreat geared toward new meditators, people who want to sit for a longer period of time without attending a full retreat, or even people who have limited time. The retreat consists of shorter sits alternating with walking meditation. We’ll have time for tea and questions at the end of the retreat. Please sign up at SAZC.
