The Interfaith Welcome Coalition has helped thousands of families who have traveled far, seeking asylum from the violence of their homeland.

We don’t have any paid staff. All of the people in our organization are committed volunteers. That means we depend on your generous donations to continue operating effectively.

Our donors feel strongly about family separation, the unjust imprisonment of asylum seekers, and the right to a life free from persecution.

Your donations directly strengthen our organization, and thus, positively impact the lives of our migrant families.

The Peer to Peer Recovery Program is an outreach program designed to help people become and stay engaged in the recovery process to reduce the likelihood of relapse. The program provides cultural sensitive peer supported services to individuals and family members of those on probation or parole, Veterans, National Guard members, and those referred through the Drug and Veterans Courts.

Services offered include job assistance, employment training, links to medical and mental health services, life skills classes, peer support groups and peer coaching and mentoring. These services are provided by competent staff/peer leaders to ensure participant’s needs are being identified and met through assessment and case management.

Funding for this program is provided by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

If you are in recovery and would like to volunteer as a peer coach, we provide training and guidance. Please complete a volunteer application or call (210) 299-1079 for more information.

Become a Hospice Volunteer – You Belong Here

If you are searching for a way to make a difference in the lives of others, you belong here. Hospice volunteers are a valuable part of our care team. Based on your interests and preferences, receive specific volunteer training to help improve the quality of life for others.

From providing companionship at a patient’s bedside, to running errands, and from assisting with administrative duties to creating gifts for patients and their families, one of our volunteer coordinators will help you discover the best fit for you.

  • Hold a hand, share a story
  • Send a card
  • Listen, read, or sing
  • Make gifts for patients
  • Run errands or perform light housekeeping
  • Share flowers, bake, or garden
  • Administrative office support
  • Make phone calls
  • Attend community events

Our agencies offer veteran-to-veteran opportunities and participate in the national We Honor Veterans programs.

Volunteer Training:

Volunteering takes no advanced medical training or great commitment. We support our volunteers and appreciate the important role they play in hospice care. We prepare volunteers with specific training including:

  • The hospice care team and the volunteer role
  • The hospice philosophy and end-of-life care
  • Grief and bereavement education
  • Emotional and spiritual support in hospice care
  • Communication and stress management
  • Patient privacy and other regulations

Medicare requires that a hospice provide at least 5 percent of its services through Volunteers. Our volunteer coordinators will help you discover the best fit for you based on your time, skills, and interests.

We are looking for compassionate people to be hospice volunteers and visit our patients for companionship and socialization. Our volunteers are specially trained and continuously supported. Just an hour a week or a couple hours once or twice a month can make a huge difference for someone facing a life-limiting illness. You can make someone's day with only your smile and time.
