We Are Grateful To The Many Volunteers Who Help Us Every Year With A Variety Of Needs.

Whether they come as individuals or travel here in groups, they clearly enjoy volunteering and we are happy and grateful to see them, and we appreciate their help in the many ways they help us and those we serve.

There is an almost endless list of volunteer opportunities to meet a variety of schedules. Volunteerism is a blessing to our ministry and enables us to continue Giving God’s Children a Faith, a Family, a Future.

Your Donations Are Vital To The People We Serve

Thank you for your selfless and enduring commitment to support our community of women, children and parents who are struggling in their day to day lives. Our survivors of complex trauma, parents interested in adoption and fostering, expectant mothers, and young adults who have aged out of foster care, have endured a tremendous amount of heartache and pain, but because of your generosity and continued support, our clinicians and staff are able to provide our community with the tools they need to rewrite their stories. With your donations, we are able to continue our mission of ending the cycle of generational trauma through innovative services. We cannot serve our community without you.

Guidelines for Donating Items

For clothing, household items and furnishings, we graciously ask you, our thoughtful donors, to please call ahead (210) 696-2410 or email us at [email protected] to inquire if such items are needed at the time. Currently our storage space is very limited.

Our biggest project is a contract bingo operation. Every penny that we make in that operation is donated to various organizations in our area and includes programs for schools. Our club has donated over $100,000 to these organizations, as well as donations to Lions Clubs International for the Sight First program for the blind.

Central Park Lions support over forty community service programs, including large donations to Any Baby Can, St. Peter's Home, St. Joseph's Home, Jefferson Outreach and other organizations. In addition, the club provides college scholarships.

We are assisting the Winston School through the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic program and are in the process of approaching the school on starting a Leo Club with the students.

Our Club now has a Foundation to receive tax deductible charitable donations. Specific charities may be identified, if desired, in making donations to the Foundation. All donations are used to support many local non-profit organizations. We are not equipped to receive donations by credit card, therefore, all donations should be made by check or money order made out to Central Park Lions CLub Foundation and sent to:

The concept behind Friends of Spare Parts dba Spare Parts was developed in 2011 by our founder Mary Elizabeth Cantú, as a response to the lack of art funds and resources in PreK-12 classrooms.

The Spare Parts Center for Creative Reuse is San Antonio’s first art supply thrift store. The purpose of the Center for Creative Reuse is to facilitate the intake of pre-owned creative materials and supplies that would otherwise be thrown away or underutilized and offers them back into the community through program offerings and storefront. The revenue earned ensures that Spare Parts can continue to expand and serve the community. Click here for the workshops and online store.

The Center is a community-driven operation and depends on material donors, volunteers, and patrons to continue to sustain a safe and welcoming place where teachers, parents, crafters, kids, and artists, can access affordable pre-loved supplies and materials.

Spare Parts Connect is an innovative educational program that connects businesses and organizations with the community to foster creativity, sustainability, and collaboration. Spare Parts Connect promotes the concept of creative reuse by offering a unique opportunity for businesses and organizations to engage with their audience through hands-on activities and demonstrations.

With Spare Parts Connect, our facilitators come to your place of business, school, or special event, and you get captivating experiences that engage and inspire audiences of all ages. For more information, please click here.

For general questions, please click here for the contact form. We prefer email since we do not have regular staff dedicated to phone inquiries.

Please note that we are a nonprofit organization and our services for Spare Parts Connect are available for a fee, which varies depending on the specific event and activity you have in mind. Kolbe Prison Ministries of San Antonio (KPM SA) is a regional branch of the Texas-wide Kolbe Prison Ministries (KPM) Catholic organization (sometimes referred to as ‘Kolbe Missions’) founded several years ago in Fredericksburg. KPM SA ministers to incarcerated men and women in five Texas State prisons and jails near San Antonio, and other detention facilities in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.

We’ve found that offenders have a much greater chance of staying out of prison and making lasting changes in their lives if we help them to develop a strong faith and offer hope for a better way of living through the truth of the Catholic Church. Kolbe Prison Ministry volunteers are making up to three visits each week to the five state penitentiaries in the Archdiocese of San Antonio.
