We are a group of women (and one man) who sew items for our Outreach program and occasionally for the needs of the parish, through our knowledge, experience, and efforts.

The ability to sew is not a requirement but it helps! We gather weekly to share and laugh, while our hands accomplish tasks. Mostly, we provide pillows to various shelters and agencies in San Antonio, for adults and children, to sleep or to hug.

We also work on baby blankets, lap quilts, cosmetic and toiletry bags, Christmas stockings, laundry bags. The items vary but the purpose is the same – to help others in need, through fabric.

If you might be interested in this type of activity, come check us out and see for yourself. We want to meet you – new faces and ideas are good. No commitment, no obligations, and no charge!

We survive only with donations of fabric, some thread, pillow stuffing, quilt batting, etc. Of course, cash or gift cards are greatly appreciated. For health reasons, we cannot accept used pillows.

Join River City as we take this opportunity to highlight the love of Jesus by serving and caring for our neighbors. This is the time of the year that we are able to focus on serving, which often disappears in our fast-paced world.

We partner with several ministries throughout the city that have demonstrated a real commitment to helping those in need. Each opportunity offers a unique opportunity to follow our mission, "More people living real life, by passionately following Jesus".

Be a mentor!

Per the Youth Risk Behavior Surveillance Survey conducted by the CDC every two years, youth that learn about positive character traits are less likely to succumb to risky behaviors and are more likely to have healthy relationships as teens and adults. At PIC we believe that an adult role model, meeting with students weekly to teach and model positive character traits, can positively impact the community in immeasurable ways.

When volunteers like you take time to teach students the character traits needed for a healthy society, everyone wins.

Volunteer Appeal for Birth Centenary Celebrations!

We Can! We Will!! We Must!!! Want to join Pujya Gurudev’s Vanar Sena? We all may not become Chinmaya Hanuman, but we can surely become His vanars (monkeys). Here’s an opportunity… A huge event is being organized to launch Pujya Gurudev’s birth centenary celebrations at Ernakulam, His birthplace. It’s a Global Chinmaya Mission event - Chinmaya Mission family members worldwide will join in to flag off the year-long celebrations and the Chinmaya Jyoti Yatra. This event is a humble offering at His feet, and to make it worthy of that, we need nothing less than an army of vanars working towards it. The planning for this event started over a year ago, and various teams involved have done a lot of groundwork. One of the teams at CCMT, Mumbai, needs a team of sevaks or volunteers who can help execute and coordinate various activities.

You Can:

  • Spread Awareness
  • Coordinate with the Ernakulum team
  • Coordinate with the Chinmaya Jyoti Yatra team
  • Live Webcast
  • Photographs and Videos
  • Reports for Website, Social Media, and Magazines
  • Distribution of Booklets

We live through crises of immense magnitude and sometimes feel so insignificant in comparison. We differ from the world in that the Church has true significance and carries answers to so many of the problems around us. We believe, maybe more than ever, that the church must be ready to respond to humanitarian crises, pandemics, and disasters of all kinds.

Jesus is the only hope for all that is going on and the church is called to display His love and hope in the toughest times! Matthew 24:6-8, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains."

Acts of Mercy is the international disaster relief arm of the Antioch Movement and we have an affiliate chapter here at CrossBridge to respond to both local and international disasters. We mobilize believers who are medical professionals and trained first responders to bring prompt, physical, and spiritual care in times of crisis.

With long-term recovery in mind, we partner with the Acts of Mercy Development team in Waco and other chapters across the nation to respond to crises. If you are a medical professional, a first responder, trained in security and logistics, or someone who can be an “all hands on deck” kind of person, we encourage you to prayerfully consider joining our Acts of Mercy chapter at CrossBridge. In-person or online training is provided to get you practically and spiritually prepared to respond to disasters all around the world.

KJ/Lisa Community Gardens is a program of the Brauner Foundation Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization.

We are looking to support new and already existing vegetable-based gardens. It is suggested that the garden sites should start or be around 6 ft. x 9 ft. Consider the size of the crops you are interested in growing, as well as how much time you are willing to devote to the upkeep of your garden.

This project offers small grants that support community vegetable gardens. By supporting small vegetable gardens, we could help promote healthy living throughout our communities.

If you are starting or maintaining a garden, write a detailed proposal, timeline, and budget for your garden and submit it to [email protected] for grant consideration. Please allow 2-3 weeks for us to get back to you.

Volunteer with Trulight!

The crisis of orphans in the United States can be overwhelming. Hundreds of children just in Texas are being abused, neglected, and/or trafficked on a daily basis. Many of us sit in our comfort zones and say to ourselves, "it’s too much", "I am just one person", "I have nothing to offer", or "the problem is too big".

The truth is that everyone can #dosomething. Together we can make a difference.

Can you cook a meal for a family who just took in a new foster placement or adoptive placement? Can you donate monetarily or organize a school or church group to gather much-needed supplies? Can you write birthday cards? Can you put together Care Packages for new placements? Can you spread the word by working a booth, talking to your church, or talk to others? Can you advocate?

Other Volunteer Ideas:

  • Mentoring
  • Tutoring
  • Organize Donations for Foster Children
  • Campus Cleanup
  • Assist with Birthdays
  • Host a Donation Drive
  • Help/Host Special Events
  • Assemble ProjectWelcomeHome Kits

Threads of Love

Purpose: To aid and support premature babies and their families through various crafted and collected items.  Guiding scripture: Matthew 25:40 “Truly I tell you, whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”

Meeting Place: ACE building across from the main sanctuary.

Meeting Date/Time: Weekly, Wednesday 9:00 AM - 12:00pm.

How you can help: Join us in taking care of these precious babies and their families.

Bunco

Purpose: This group meets on a monthly basis for a potluck lunch, devotional, and fellowship by playing BUNCO. There is a donation of $5.00 to play, however we use this money to sponsor our World Vision child and support various other charities. We also encourage participation in a yearly service project.

Regular Meeting Place & Time: The first Wednesday of every month from noon to 2:00 PM in the church fellowship hall. If the first Wednesday is a holiday, then we won’t meet and will get together the next month.

How you can help: Ladies BUNCO is comprised of 16 regular members and additional substitutes. Our BUNCO group is always looking for more women to add to our sub list or the wait list for regular members. It’s a fun way to meet fellow St. Paul disciples.

Join our Red Roof Readers

Purpose: The book club forms strong relationships among our participants as each month a chosen book stimulates conversation among this open-ended group.  We are always eager to include more participation.

Regular Meeting Place & Time: Fellowship Hall on the second Monday of each month at 6:00 PM.

How you can help: Bring a snack and be willing to share and have fun in fellowship with one another.

There will be potluck dinner with drinks provided.

Men's Life

Purpose: Men's Life provides you, St Paul men, the opportunity to help with small projects around the church, and in the community at times.

We also have a month gathering where we spend time together informally.

We begin with Fellowship where private, or group, discussions take place about a wide variety of topics/interests.  Fellowship if followed by dinner prepared by someone in our group.

Next on the agenda is a short Devotional given by the Pastor, or other men in the church.  On occasion there will be a guest speaker in lieu of a devotional.  Guests are always invited to Men' Life.

Regular Meeting Time and Place: Knibbe Ranch on the third Tuesday of the month from 6:00pm - 8:00pm.  (Watch the monthly Epistle, and weekly bulletin, for announcements and contact information.)

How you can help: Join our group for small projects and yard work when needed, in addition to supporting the outreach programs offered by other organizations around church.

Please contact Randy Fischer for more info and to RSVP

Fellowship includes board games, dominoes, field trips, and other activities as suggested and arranged by members. The Pastor, other Church staff or T&R members will provide a brief devotional. There are not any dues or membership fees, but contributions to worthy causes are funded by donations and recycling of aluminum cans. Bring a dish to share for a potluck.

Regular Meeting Place & Time: Fellowship Hall on the last Wednesday of the month from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

How you can help: Each month join the “Tired and Retired” group for a fun time and a wonderful learning experience.

St Ann Volunteers serve at Country Care Manor Nursing Home weekly.  As we come out of the pandemic, older adults at the nursing home yearn for us to visit them.

On Fridays, we have communion services with a rosary, and once a month, on the second Friday, Father will celebrate Mass at 10:00 AM at Country Care Manor Nursing Home.

We are in dire need of volunteers to help serve our older adults.  If you are interested and feel called to serve this ministry, please get in touch with the office at 830-779-3131 and let us know.

COVID-19 AND VOLUNTEERISM AT THE PANTRY:

We are blessed with loyal and enthusiastic volunteers who have served us faithfully throughout the pandemic! Currently, masks are optional for both volunteers and clients in the food pantry. Please understand that the decisions concerning mask wearing have been made with careful consideration of facts, as well as surveys of the wishes of the volunteer staff. If you are considering volunteering at Provisions, please know that you are welcome to do what is right for you concerning masks, and we ask that all volunteers be respectful of each other’s decisions and privacy.

We are in need of able-bodied, adult volunteers who are inclined to commit to a fairly regular schedule of attendance. All shifts as described below could use an extra person or two who are willing to come in on a regular basis.

Provisions is powered by Volunteers! We could not serve our mission without the help and support of a loving and enthusiastic volunteer staff. We always welcome new volunteers to help us on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. Our volunteer needs vary in scope, and we welcome folks with all types of skills. If you are an English-Spanish bilingual speaker, that’s a definite bonus for us!

Click here for a complete list of volunteer positions available everyday. We also have volunteers opportunities for data entry and delivery drivers.

Age Requirements:

Our volunteer age requirements are as follows:

  • Adults ages 18 and older: all are welcome
  • Youth ages 16 and 17: all are welcome to volunteer after an initial visit here at the pantry accompanied by a parent or adult legal guardian.
  • Youth ages 11 through 15: these youth are welcome to volunteer, but a parent or adult legal guardian must accompany them to the pantry and stay on property for the duration of the volunteer shift. The parent/guardian is welcome to participate in the volunteer activities, or may simply wait in the lobby-however they wish to spend the time.
  • Children age 10 and younger: Due to the nature of our warehouse environment and the activities that occur throughout our hours of operation when we are serving our clients, we do not allow volunteers age 10 and younger.
