Building industy professionals and educators help high school students learn more about potential careers in architecture, engineering, and construction.
During the program, students work in teams under the mentorship of experienced professionals, who guide them through projects that meet real industry requirements. The result is an opportunity to gain practical insight into what building industry professionals do to transform their ideas from an initial concept into a finished building.
Students also visit professional firms, attend College Night at the University of Texas at San Antonio CACP and attend lectures on industry topics.
At the conclusion of the program year, students present their design solutions and receive feedback from local industry leaders.
In addition, every qualified senior who goes on to univeristy study in a building industry-related field is eligible for a local scholarship.

Communities In Schools programs surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Our evidence-based approach, adapted to meet each community’s unique needs, is the basis for our success.
Basic Needs: A student cannot focus in the classroom if he or she is hungry, cold or tired, or cannot see the board. Site coordinators see to it that students' basic needs are met each day.
Enrichment: Our Site coordinators enroll students in a wide variety of after-school and summer programs, field trips and youth conferences to help them gain experience that is essential to meeting college and career goals.
Academic Assistance: Our site coordinators work hard to ensure that students have the resources to progress academically. From providing students with tutors to finding and creating quiet spaces where students can study, we do whatever it takes to create an optimal learning environment for our students.
Life Skills: Through one-on-one workshops, team building, and guest speakers, we work with students to develop social-emotional learning, character education, social skills building, and conflict resolution.
Behavioral Interventions: Many of our students face and overcome difficult obstacles in their lives. However, their survival skills aren’t always effective in the classroom or in the workplace. Our program teaches students positive ways to cope with anger, conflict resolution, and other strategies to keep them focused on school.
Family Engagement: Site coordinators connect families with counselors and social workers to make sure that home is a healthy, nurturing environment where a student can feel safe.

A Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) goals at St. Gregory the Great Parish include instilling Christian values through sports/athletics and to offer all youth sports and recreational programs emphasizing friendly competition through good sportsmanship modeled by adult participants. Also, CYO invites all participants, Catholic or otherwise youth and adults, to share in the life of the church/faith community.
It was initiated by Bishop Bernard J. Sheil of Chicago in the year 1930.
The organization's main purposes are guiding the young Catholics to live a Christian life from a young age, developing trust between peers, and living a happy life in a positive manner.
Activities vary in accordance with local culture but often includes prayer, singing, charity, sales, sports and visiting the sick. In the United States, CYO is mainly known for its organized sports programs, notably boxing, basketball, baseball, track and field, and volleyball, as well as marching bands. Its athletic contests are often so competitive that CYO has been jokingly described as "Crush Your Opponents."

The Pathways Youth Program provides interactive, educational enrichment activities that emphasize art, music, and literacy in an environment of cooperative learning. The program is offered Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM - 6:00 PM to children over the age of 6. During this time Resident Coordinators assist youth with their homework. After homework is completed, youth participate in a structured educational activity. These activities reinforce math, science, reading, and creative thinking while incorporating art, music, and cooking.
In the summer, hours are extended and additional programs and field trips are added. Summer programming differs from year to year because, unlike traditional summer camp where children are grouped with youngsters of the same age, ACG children work together cooperatively in groups that frequently span many ages. This experience more closely replicates the experience these children have in their home environment where siblings and neighborhood friends come from many age groups.
This program is open to the public.

Each year, YTIA is pleased to offer assistance to youths desiring to graduate in the form of cap and gown, ring, invitations, etc.
Typically, a request will come from a youth's caseworker but it can also come from the youth. A request for assistance can be sent to [email protected], by sending a Contact through this website (www.ytia.org), or by completing THE? GRADUATION PROJECT APPLICATION and mailing it to us at Post Office Box 29256, San Antonio, Texas 78229. As a general rule, the youth should attempt to obtain assistance from his/her PAL worker first but YTIA is always available as an additional resource.

Would you like to be a lifeguard or work in a daycare? Or, how about working in food service or food manufacturing?
Many School Districts offer Adult Continuing Education (Northside ISD offers classes to people 16 and older) and in those programs are short-courses on CPR, food preparation and other specialty courses.
Why not get a jump on the competition by having a certification or extra knowledge about a particular field before applying for the job?
Find a class that you are interested in through your local School District, send us an email about why you want to take that class, and we may pay for your attendance with a “Quick Start Scholarship”.
