Alamo Academies began in 2001 with a mission to expose high school students to STEM careers driven by industry. Students who enroll in one of our programs are exposed to high demand career pathways through a hands-on curriculum. Students can make better decisions on their educational and career plans after high school graduation.

Welcome to Travis Early College High School, a tuition-free school located within the San Antonio Independent School District that puts you on the fast track to college. If you are goal-oriented and can see a college education in your future, then you are in the right place.

Travis students become college students starting in their freshman year of high school when they begin taking basics at neighboring San Antonio College (SAC), our program partner. During their four years here, students take rigorous courses that earn them a high school diploma and up to two years of college credit. This approach saves students and their families a significant amount of money, and it gives students valuable exposure to campus life, making for a smoother transition between high school and higher education.

Any student in Bexar County who meets the admission criteria may apply to attend Travis.

At Travis, we seek to educate students with diverse academic backgrounds, not just those who were at the top of their middle school classes. We believe that hard work and determination, combined with a strong support network provided by the school, lead to success for our students. The fact that our school was rated Exemplary by the Texas Education Agency each year since the agency began rating us is a testament to our program and our students’ success.

We come from hundreds of ethnic and language backgrounds, yet we are united by common goals. Above all, we want to honor Jehovah, the God of the Bible and the Creator of all things. We do our best to imitate Jesus Christ and are proud to be called Christians. Each of us regularly spends time helping people learn about the Bible and God’s Kingdom. Because we witness, or talk, about Jehovah God and his Kingdom, we are known as Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Dignity/San Antonio (Faith / Christian )

Dignity/San Antonio has been a light to the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and straight community since 1976.

DignityUSA works for respect and justice for all gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons in the Catholic Church and the world through education, advocacy, and support.

We believe that gay Catholics are members of Christ’s mystical body, numbered among the people of God. We have an inherent dignity because God created us, because Christ died for us, and the Holy Spirit sanctified us in Baptism making us a temple and the channel through which the love of God might become visible. Because of this, it is our right, our privilege, and our duty to live the sacramental life of the Church, so that we might become more powerful instruments of God’s love working among God’s people.

We believe that gays can express their sexuality in a manner that is consonant with Christ’s teaching. We believe that all sexuality should be exercised in an ethically responsible and unselfish way.

As members of DIGNITY/USA, we wish to promote the cause of the gay community. To do this, we must accept our responsibility to the Church, to society, and to the individual gay Catholic.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine (Downtown) (Faith / Christian )

After one hundred years, the creativity, faith, and spirit of Guadalupe Church has not been exhausted. This parish, originally founded to serve the needs of a small, poor, and exploited community, has grown into one of the landmarks of San Antonio's cultural, historical, and religious heritage, and it only continues to grow. It has been a place of pilgrimage for many: for Eleanor Roosevelt in 1937, and for Pope John Paul II half a century later. For Mexican President Carlos Salinas de Gortari, who visited Guadalupe Plaza in 1991, and for then-Senator Barack Obama, who visited the same plaza in 2008. For a group of students of the University of Texas in San Antonio, who manifested in front of the church during their twenty-two-day hunger strike in support of the tragically defeated pro-immigrant DREAM Act. For Miss San Antonio 2011 Domonique Ramirez, who bequeathed her crown to the church in honor of la Virgen, “the queen of queens, the keeper of all crowns.”

But most of all, this is a place of pilgrimage for the hundreds of thousands of Catholics who have lived their lives here under the protection of Our Lady of Guadalupe and contributed to the parish community – or who have visited this beautiful sanctuary from near and far to plead for help and healing, to offer thanks and praise, and to pray for the Church and for the world.
