Attention deficit disorder (ADD) is a term that is sometimes used for one of the presentations of attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). ADHD is a neurological disorder that causes a range of behavior problems such as difficulties with attending to instruction, focusing on schoolwork, keeping up with assignments, following instructions, completing tasks, and social interaction.
People with the inattentive type of ADHD struggle to pay attention or stay focused for long periods of time. Some of the symptoms of this type of ADHD include:

Family Weekend Retreats are designed to adapt all recreational activities for campers with mild to severe medical conditions or disabilities while including the entire family.
Family Weekend Retreats are held at Camp CAMP in Center Point, Texas, on a beautiful 55-acre property along the Guadalupe River.
Throughout the weekend campers and their families participate together in traditional camping activities such as canoeing, horseback riding, swimming, music, sports and recreation, arts and crafts, and outdoor cooking.
During these inclusive weekends, which begin Friday evening and end Sunday afternoon, families enjoy private, climate-controlled cabins. All meals are provided, and CAMP can accommodate many special diets. Campers must be accompanied by at least one parent/guardian to provide direct support during the event.
Family Weekend Retreats are open to new and returning camper families, with priority given to those who have never attended a retreat and/or those who were unable to attend one during the previous year.
Due to the generosity of Methodist Healthcare Ministry of South Texas, Inc., which has underwritten all program expenses, there is no fee to attend.
A deposit will be required to secure your family's spot (refunded in full following retreat attendance).

Parent’s Night Out (PNO) is an enrichment activity program for children with medical conditions or disabilities (aged 3-15 years) and their siblings (aged 3-14 years).
PNO events consist of engaging games, crafts, and activities thoughtfully planned around a central theme. CAMP provides a snack and drink for all participants during the event and requests that Campers bring a sack dinner from home to enjoy with their peers.
The Parent's Night Out program is completely underwritten by CAMP. Because of this, there is no fee to attend.
Counselors and healthcare volunteers care for the needs of all campers, allowing families and caregivers a chance to recharge.
Activities (weather permitting) include canoeing, horseback riding, arts and crafts, outdoor cooking, nature, and more.
Respite Weekend Camps are $750 per Camper.
Respite units may be used to cover the cost of attendance.
For families paying out of pocket, CAMP has a Tier Pricing Program.
Respite Weekend Camps are held monthly throughout the school year (September – May), giving campers with medical conditions or disabilities, aged 5 to 55 years, an opportunity to enjoy an overnight camping experience.
Counselors and healthcare volunteers care for the needs of all campers, allowing families and caregivers time to recharge knowing that their camper is in a fun and safe environment.
CAMP’s cabins are large, climate-controlled, and wheelchair accessible.
Activities (weather permitting) include canoeing, horseback riding, swimming, arts and crafts, outdoor cooking, nature, and more.
Respite units may be used to cover the cost of attendance.
For families paying out of pocket, CAMP has a Tier Pricing Program available. The tier pricing level is voluntarily selected by each family and will be kept confidential.

Summer Camp is a series of 6-day/5-night sessions for children and adults, aged 5 to 55 years, with mild to severe medical conditions or disabilities (including medical, physical, intellectual, and developmental). Siblings aged 5-13 years without a medical condition or disability may attend as well.
Summer Camp sessions are held at Camp CAMP in Center Point, Texas, on a beautiful 55-acre property along the Guadalupe River.
CAMP modifies traditional summer camp activities to meet the unique needs of each camper. Campers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities such as canoeing, horseback riding, swimming, music, sports and recreation, arts and crafts, and outdoor cooking.
While at Summer Camp, campers are assigned to a Tribe based on gender and age. Here they are partnered with a trained counselor who provides a caring and supportive environment for the camper while fostering the social development of campers and their connections with peers.
CAMP’s cabins are large, climate-controlled, and wheelchair-accessible. Meals can be modified to accommodate most special dietary needs. Each camper’s medical needs and medication administration are overseen by healthcare professionals.

CAMP believes income should never be a barrier to attending programs and we are here to help. The full fee to attend a summer camp session is $1,700. Teen and Adult Day Adventure (TADA) is a supervised social program in the San Antonio community for teens and adults with medical conditions or disabilities, aged 13-40 years.
TADA events may include lunch, movies, sporting events, and concerts.
CAMP seeks a variety of fun venues that fit the unique needs of our campers.
Teen and Adult Day Adventure events fees range from $10-$25 per camper. When possible, this event is underwritten by sponsors and is offered free to participants. Depending on the activity, families may be responsible for a small portion of the cost.

Project SEARCH is a one year internship for students with intellectual and other disabilities. The goal of Project SEARCH is for all participants to obtain competitive employment upon completion of their internship year. Students must complete all high school course requirements prior to beginning their internship year.
Interns remain enrolled at their home campus and follow the SAISD school calendar during their internship. All instruction is provided at our host business, Children’s Hospital of San Antonio. Interns will have the opportunity to interview for and complete rotations in a variety of departments within the hospital.
Recruitment for the following year’s internship cycle begins in the Fall Semester with Skills Assessments and Candidate Interviews taking place in the Spring.

VIAtrans is a transportation service option for customers who cannot utilize regular bus service because of a disability. It is a shared-ride, curb-to-curb service that offers independence through mobility and expands access to opportunity via transit.
VIAtrans trips are available for any purpose and can be scheduled at least one day in advance using VIA’s online or call-in scheduling system.
VIAtrans uses vans in the same areas and times as the VIA bus service. Van operators help passengers on and off vehicles but do not provide medical assistance or emergency service.
Individuals may apply to determine eligibility for VIAtrans.
- Eligibility is based on an individual’s functional ability to use regular city bus service, in keeping with ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) criteria.
- As part of the VIAtrans eligibility determination process, applicants may be asked to participate in a physical functional assessment by a skilled and trained professional therapist.
Any Baby Can of San Antonio has a program designed specifically for families who have a child diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. The program includes parent education and support as well as many programs for families such as parent training, and education groups among many others.
The child must reside in either Bexar, Atascosa, Bandera, Blanco, Caldwell, Comal, Edwards, Frio, Gillespie, Gonzales, Guadalupe, Hays, Kendall, Kerr, Kimble, Medina, Real, Uvalde or Wilson County.

TRLA has helped Hurricane Harvey survivors get nearly $450,000 in FEMA aid that was unfairly denied to them. Most recently, our Disaster Legal Aid Team has also been deployed to the Rio Grande Valley, where residents are struggling to recover from devastating June flooding. This program offers legal guardianship services, including less restrictive alternatives, for those who lack mental capacity due to illness or disability, and who are at risk of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
With the goal of protecting the most vulnerable in our society by ensuring their safety in the community, the Guardianship Services creates one-third of all guardianships established in Bexar County.

This program assists with acquiring, retaining, or improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to live successfully in the community and to participate in home and community life.
The Employment team provides assistance in attaining and sustaining competitive integrated employment in the community to include résumé building, interviewing skills, job placement and job coaching to all Bexar County residents with disabilities.
Adult Day Care provides meals, medical care, medication supervision, transportation, social and leisure activities and personal care services.
Volunteering, at its heart, is the principle of donating time and energy for the benefit of other people in our community as a social responsibility rather than for any financial reward.

The Transition to Work program provides individualized vocational and job skills training. Students enroll through local school districts partnerships and parent referrals.
Students engage in a learning environment which encourages them to achieve their individual maximum potential. Students receive hands on learning through simulation of various career situations and job tasks.

- Students must be 16-22 years of age.
- Experience a vision or other disability.
- Be self-sufficient for toileting and eating.
- Travel independently.
- Demonstrate appropriate behavior.

At the San Antonio Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, we provide vocational rehabilitation services that are tailored to meet the needs and interest of each individual. Are highly skilled staff specialize in working with individuals who are blind or visually impaired, as well as those who are uniquely abled. We provide a wide range of services from basic life skills to advanced technical training to help prepare our customers for independence and success in today's employment market.
Our Programs:
Technology Evaluation and Training: We provide evaluations and training on the latest assistive technology avialable, and specialize in training the vision impaired on mainstream software such as Microsoft and Apple, as well as assistive software. In addition, we work with community organizations and businesses to provide training for staff.
Employment Services and Job Placement: We are proud to offer employment services to assist individuals with preparing for, locating, and maintaining suitable employment. We offer assistance and training in job search, resume writing, job application completion, interviewing skills, and vocational adjustment training (VAT).
School of Business: Our School of Business offers 7 hours that are designed to assist students in refining their marketability into today's workforce. We currently offer seminars in over 15 different areas to include: Introduction to Windows 10, Microsoft Office Word, Microsoft Office Excel, Microsoft Office Outlook, Microsoft Office PowerPoint, and Zoom.

Shire House offers and manages Shared Housing Programs for adults 18 and over within the HFA (formerly known as Aspergers) and Neurodiverse community.
Here's how it works:
- Shire House holds the lease on the particular property.
- There is an Agreement between the housemate and parents or just the housemate; Shire House manages the agreements.
- The housemate understands they are committing to participate in a Shared Housing program.
- The fees for each home are tailored by the cost of the rent, utilities, and amenities such as food.
- The housemate must be employed or have other financial resources to pay for or purchase expenses outlined in the parent agreement or the Shire House Shared Housing Agreement.
- The housemate understands they are committing to participate in a Shared Housing program.
- The housemate will be asked to exit the program if they are not adhering to the Shared Housing agreement.
- Shire House provides guidance and support
- when a client transitions out of Shire House to their particular independent living setting.
