People experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis can often benefit from a detoxification program and stabilization unit rather than a busy emergency room. Josephine Recovery Center—a 16-bed therapeutic facility open 24/7—offers a safe, effective alternative for Bexar County adults recovering from a behavioral health crisis.

Josephine Recovery Center (JRC) provides a safe environment staffed at all times by psychiatric nurses, skilled crisis therapists, and counselors. If participants are willing to engage in activities and treatment geared toward recovery, JRC can provide an effective alternative to emergency room care.

The first step on your journey to recovery is withdrawal. During this process, as drugs and alcohol leave your body, you might experience painful or uncomfortable physical symptoms. It’s crucial to go through withdrawal under the supervision of a medical team. Some individuals try to quit drinking or using drugs all at once, which can be dangerous. Withdrawal from alcohol, heroin, and benzodiazepines such as Xanax or Valium can lead to severe and life-threatening symptoms if not done carefully.

Over the course of an addiction, the brain and body become used to the presence of the addictive chemical. Over time, the user’s tolerance increases, which drives them to use more of the substance more often to reach the same high.

Physical dependence, however, is a two-sided coin. Just as it fuels the addiction, it also hurts the user when they stop using their substance of choice. When the addictive chemical is no longer present, the body exhibits multiple withdrawal symptoms. This is especially true for those who have used the drug for a long time or in particularly heavy doses. For these users, detox is a life-saver; withdrawal symptoms for these users can cause death if the user is not supervised.

In our Texas detox center program, we offer round-the-clock support and medical interventions as necessary.

Located in San Antonio, our detox center is in the heart of Texas, making it a great location for residents from all over the state to seek treatment for substance abuse disorders. We commonly treat patients from other cities who are seeking a change of scenery while undergoing the recovery process.

We invite you to reach out to our team today. Taking the first step of admitting that you need help takes courage. When you call our team, we’ll discuss the next steps in overcoming addiction and rebuilding your life. Call us at 866-957-7885 or contact us online to learn more.

Getting to the point where you are able to admit that you need to seek addiction treatment for your substance use disorder is a monumental step. This means that you have entered your journey of recovery, even if you feel like you haven’t started yet.

Seeking treatment for your addiction can be scary and overwhelming. Still, with the help of addiction recovery centers and detox centers, you can be sure that you will get professional help. Trying to figure out your addiction on your own is sometimes impossible, but that’s completely normal. Most people need some encouragement and support to get through it.

At Soba Recovery Center’s San Antonio location, you get to experience treatment services that are personalized to meet all your specific needs for substance abuse recovery. No matter what you are struggling with, we here at Soba Texas treatment centers are prepared to assist you.

The treatment that you will receive almost always starts with the detoxification program. To begin your recovery, you need to be free from substances, which is exactly what that detoxification program does.

What Is Detoxification Treatment like at Soba Texas?

Not everyone is going to need to undergo detoxification, depending on your needs. If you are actively struggling with substances and find that you cannot go a day without fear of withdrawal symptoms, this will benefit you greatly.

The detox program is meant to help you get sober without putting your life or wellness in danger. Detoxification can take a serious toll on the body, especially if someone uses substances like alcohol, prescription drugs like benzodiazepines, or meth. When your body cannot replenish with these substances, there can be negative side effects.

Medical detoxification helps the body rid itself of drugs or alcohol while treating the withdrawal symptoms. Freed of the substances’ immediate impact, the patient can begin to work on controlling drug cravings or ongoing desires to drink.

La Hacienda Treatment Center functions as a residential treatment program providing a Special Care Unit for medical detoxification, individual therapy, daily 12-Step meetings, total wellness counseling, therapeutic activities and fellowship, and long-term recovery planning and follow-up.

Upon admission, our medical and clinical staffs, under the direction of La Hacienda’s medical director, comprehensively assess each patient’s condition–including co-occurring medical conditions– and prepare an individualized treatment plan for them.

We are committed to the concept that each patient is different and requires individualized levels and modalities of care.

The detox program at Cross Creek includes a range of treatment interventions designed to ensure that each patient’s withdrawal process is as safe and comfortable as possible within our detox program. Daily physician visits allow the doctor to track individuals’ progress through withdrawal and provide an opportunity to prescribe medications to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. In addition, our detox program offers 24-hour nursing care and medication management services for individuals who require medications while at our treatment center.

Detox stays typically range in duration from a few days to a week or more, though the process and length of stay are different for each individual. During the detox program at our treatment center, patients live at Cross Creek and are under the care of our treatment team.

During detox, we offer patients in our program the opportunity to participate in numerous therapeutic activities as they are able. Groups, such as our psychotherapy group, process group, nurse education group, and goals group, allow patients to support and be supported by each other and develop skills for long-term sobriety. In addition to these groups, we also offer recreation therapy groups and gym time at our Austin, Texas-based treatment center so that individuals can involve both their bodies and their minds in their recovery effort.

Opioid replacement therapy has become a vital tool in helping individuals who are experiencing opioid withdrawal symptoms. Ambulatory Withdrawal Management, our outpatient withdrawal management service, is a medically assisted program that safely and comfortably assists with opioid addiction withdrawals.

This supervised outpatient withdrawal management program allows individuals to start their recovery at home while continuing with their lives. A physical exam and supervised plan of care is overseen by a licensed medical director. The plan is individualized to meet the unique needs of each client and medication is provided to assist with withdrawal symptoms. Clients attend counseling with a licensed substance abuse therapist, are introduced to appropriate support groups, and receive help with discharge planning and after-hours referrals.

Some of the Detoxification Services Include:

  • Physical Exam
  • Medication to minimize withdrawal symptoms
  • Supervised care by a licensed medical director
  • Individualized treatment plan
  • Substance use disorder counseling by licensed therapist
  • Orientation to AA/NA support groups
  • Discharge planning and referral

There are treatments for opioid addiction. Call us for more information on whether a supervised, outpatient withdrawal management program is right for you.
