Pregnancy symptoms differ from woman to woman and pregnancy to pregnancy. However, one of the most significant symptoms of pregnancy is a delayed or missed period.
In addition to a missed period, the earliest symptoms of pregnancy might include:
- Nausea, with or without vomiting
- Tender, swollen breasts
- Increased urination
- Fatigue
- Food aversions or cravings
- Bloating
You may experience these symptoms within a week of becoming pregnant.
It’s also possible for a few weeks to go by before you experience any symptoms.
These symptoms don’t always mean you’re pregnant, and some pregnant women don’t experience any of the symptoms.
If you have been sexually active, missed a period, or are experiencing any of these symptoms, it’s important to take a pregnancy test.
We can help you with Medicaid information and provide you with other pregnancy resources.

AWC Centers (formerly Any Woman Can) provides FREE testing and treatment for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea at both of our locations.
We also partner with San Antonio Metro Health District for a monthly walk-in clinic to provide additional free testing. Call us to find out when Metro Health will be at our locations each month.

Receive an Ultrasound in Your First Trimester
A first-trimester ultrasound can occur as early as six to eight weeks into your pregnancy.
It checks the health of your baby, measures its length from crown to rump, and verifies your due date. It also verifies whether you’re having one or multiple babies.
At this appointment, you may even be able to hear your baby’s heartbeat.
This ultrasound is done inside your uterus. It may be a bit uncomfortable but is generally not painful.
