Our emergency shelter is located on Haven for Hope's campus. We currently have 10 beds for LGBTQ young adults ages 18-24, and are one of two LGBTQ-specific emergency shelters in the state of Texas. Our residents have access to safe living quarters, meals, showers, laundry facilities, hygiene supplies, and other basic living needs, but also have access to many other services and resources to help them work towards self-sufficiency and exiting homelessness: • ?Strengths-based support, including an individual case management plan that meets the resident's specific needs and goals. • Education Services: If needed, residents can be connected with an off-campus GED or high school diploma recovery program. Our partnership with Workforce Solutions Alamo connects our young adults to vocational trade programs for in-demand occupations, which ensures they will make sufficient funds to sustain housing. • Employment Resources: Assistance in resume development, job searches, and connections to other local agencies. • ?Mental health services: Coordination for LGBTQ-specific counseling services onsite or offsite, including weekly group and individual sessions. • Life Skills: Weekly life skills classes cover topics including becoming financially literate, exploring self-identified hobbies and interests, and developing and utilizing healthy communication and social skills • ?Medical Care: Access to HIV/STI testing and LGBTQ-specific medical services, including access to appointments and Hormone Replacement Therapy medications for our transgender residents. • Legal services - Assistance in recovering documents (such as ID or Social Security card); guidance through the process of legally changing name and gender markers for our transgender residents?. • Aftercare: Support and coaching is offered 6-12 months after residents leave Thrive to obtain their own housing.

In October of 2017, Thrive received a grant from the federal government that allowed us to house 20 young adults in their own apartments with rental assistance for up to one year. This program is open to any young adults ages 18 to 24 who are experiencing homelessness in San Antonio, though clients must come to us through a system called "Coordinated Entry." We received the grant in 2018 and housed another 20 young adults, and will be able to start housing another 20 in October of this year. Our apartment clients receive all of the same services as our shelter clients, but the services are wrapped around them in their own housing.

Thrive has two street outreach workers who provide services to homeless young adults who live on the streets. We provide survival backpacks which include hygiene items, first aid items, socks, snacks, water, and resource guides that highlight services throughout Bexar county. Our main objective is to try to get these young adults off the streets and into shelter, whether it be Thrive or another program.
