Chinmaya Mission San Antonio (CMSA) (Nonprofit / Hindu )

Chinmaya Mission of San Antonio was founded in the year 2017 on the grounds of San Antonio’s Mother Temple, as an abbey for learning and spiritual growth. The center was established as a result of the joint vision of Swami Shivatmananda, the resident Acharya (monk) along with Drs. Ramkrishna and Kamala Rao. Their goal was to develop a center for Vedanta studies accessible to both children and adults of the greater San Antonio community. The center, which is dedicated to spiritual growth, is graced by Sharadamba the goddess of ultimate knowledge (Bhramavidya). Our center, which houses Sharadamba and Shivatmananda Swamiji, also is the location of weekly Satsangs and BalaVihar programs.

CMSA offers a very well established structured program for the growth of individuals from all backgrounds, as part of the larger Chinmaya Mission organization whose purpose is spreading the teachings contained in Vedas and Upanishads.

Chinmaya Mission San Antonio offers weekly Balavihar classes for pre-kindergarten through twelfth-grade students during the school year. Classes are taught by local community volunteers who have a passion for Hinduism and for passing on our cultural traditions to future generations. Under Swami Shivatmanandaji’s guidance, classes are designed with the student’s developmental ages in mind.

All children are welcome!

The study of Vedanta is a sacred and ancient tradition imparted in a gurukula setting. In Sanskrit, “kula” means family, and “guru” means teacher. A gurukul is where the students and the guru reside together and form a family. This system of constant interaction between them enables the students to learn not only from the words of their teacher but also from the teacher’s daily living.

We offer:

  • Residential Vedanta Courses
  • Dharma Sevak Course
  • Purohita Course
  • Postal & E-Vedanta Course

Volunteer Appeal for Birth Centenary Celebrations!

We Can! We Will!! We Must!!! Want to join Pujya Gurudev’s Vanar Sena? We all may not become Chinmaya Hanuman, but we can surely become His vanars (monkeys). Here’s an opportunity… A huge event is being organized to launch Pujya Gurudev’s birth centenary celebrations at Ernakulam, His birthplace. It’s a Global Chinmaya Mission event - Chinmaya Mission family members worldwide will join in to flag off the year-long celebrations and the Chinmaya Jyoti Yatra. This event is a humble offering at His feet, and to make it worthy of that, we need nothing less than an army of vanars working towards it. The planning for this event started over a year ago, and various teams involved have done a lot of groundwork. One of the teams at CCMT, Mumbai, needs a team of sevaks or volunteers who can help execute and coordinate various activities.

You Can:

  • Spread Awareness
  • Coordinate with the Ernakulum team
  • Coordinate with the Chinmaya Jyoti Yatra team
  • Live Webcast
  • Photographs and Videos
  • Reports for Website, Social Media, and Magazines
  • Distribution of Booklets
