Prosper West is a nonprofit organization that includes a coalition of community members and partners working together to make the Westside of San Antonio a more prosperous place for families and businesses through what we call The Big Six, including housing and real estate, small businesses, and cultural preservation.

The 15-square mile target area on San Antonio’s historic Westside is primarily Hispanic, includes a population of approximately 103,000, and has historically suffered from neglect, disinvestment, high poverty, and low educational attainment.

Despite these challenges, this is an area of high opportunity with three universities, two lakes, a developing greenway trail system, and close proximity to two major economic centers – Downtown San Antonio and Port San Antonio. Most importantly, it is the cultural heart of San Antonio to which many city residents and businesses trace their roots. Maximizing these assets and opportunities for the benefit of our Westside community is our mission.

Economic prosperity on the Westside of San Antonio requires a holistic approach to the entire Westside ecosystem including real estate, small business, infrastructure, workforce, placemaking, promotion, etc.

Our approach is to maximize existing assets, remove barriers to opportunities, and close system gaps in each of these areas.

Our Impact Committees, made up of passionate and proud members of the community, help to identify these opportunities and move them forward in partnership with our board, staff, and other community partners.
