Luminary Ministries (Nonprofit )

Luminary supports at-risk teens, young adults, and teen/young parents. We are a non-profit partnering with organizations and other ministries that come together to serve the spiritual, personal growth, and multiple needs of families.

We formed our organization to provide services in life skills, financial literacy with an entrepreneur program, academic education, faith-based classes, and mentorship. Our desire is to positively impact the community and see families thrive.

While there are many programs and services for both young parents and youth in the foster care system, many programs end for individuals once they graduate from high school or turn 18. There is a lack of support, especially for ages 19-23.

Luminary Ministries aims to be a support through this transition time by providing participants with services that guide them in their spiritual, personal, and professional growth.

Luminary Ministries has partnered with BFI Treasures to inspire a spirit of entrepreneurship and job training as a lot of young people are gifted with unique ideas. Many of these individuals have an interest in starting and growing a business, but due to the lack of support and guidance, they are often unaware of how and where to start. We provide entrepreneurship classes to assist with starting and growing their business.

The program includes hands-on training in the following areas: entrepreneurship, marketing, website design, inventory, finances, budgeting, business plans, and internships. Learn money basics, management, and savings using the Boss Club Curriculum.

The Boss Club Curriculum, which is taught in over 100 schools across the U.S., has helped thousands of students successfully start their own businesses.

This program is for at-risk youth and young adults, especially those aged 19 to 23.

Having a child at an early age brings with it some long-term challenges, including financial hardship and the need for public assistance (WIC, Medicaid, Food Stamps, etc).

Young parents’ education is affected as well, including challenges to finishing high school and going to college which can result in a lower income in adulthood.

Luminary Ministries helps teens and young parents with a variety of classes, including a Parenting/Healthy relationships class “Love Notes”.

Luminary Ministries also helps young parents and their children through case management, emergency food, diapers, wipes, clothing, hygiene products, and more.
