The Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) aims to improve the health and nutritional well-being of elderly individuals, 60 years and older, who are vulnerable to malnutrition and are income eligible.
The USDA provides approved USDA Food for grocery packages that are used for home consumption. The Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) administers the CSFP through contracts with individual food banks and provides oversight of their operations.
Local organizations distribute the food packages and provide nutrition education to more than 34,000 eligible participants through an agreement with their respected food banks.
