Our members reflect many denominational and theological backgrounds and concepts. We are tolerant and accepting of different notions. We are not dogmatic. However, we have an official creed, stipulated by both PC(USA) and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, in their Confession of Faith to which we require loyalty on the part of ministers and church officers. We serve God and our community in the Great Northwest of San Antonio, Texas.

Presbyterian churches are made up of four categories of church government:

  1. the session
  2. presbytery
  3. synod
  4. general assembly

Northminster is governed by elected elders who make up a “session.” Elders are chosen by the people. Together with ministers of the Word and Sacrament, they exercise leadership, government, and discipline and have responsibilities for the life of a particular church as we as the church at large, including ecumenical relationships.

The order of a Sunday worship service in a Presbyterian church is determined by the pastor and the session, the church’s governing body. It generally includes prayer, music, Bible reading, and a sermon based upon scripture. The Sacraments, a time of personal response/offering, and a sharing of community concerns are also parts of worship.

We invite you to come and visit with us in person.  We believe we are here to honor God by loving and caring for one another and for others as well.  Look over our website and then come visit with us when you can.

The University Baptist Church WEE School is a Weekday Early Education preschool ministry that is an outreach to the community providing Christian education for children 6 months old through PreK4. WEE School, has been a ministry of University Baptist Church since 1980, providing a learning environment that helps preschoolers grow as Jesus grew.

Our goal is to provide the loving care and guidance that your child needs as he/she grows and develops.

WEE School uses weekly letters and themes to teach the children about the world around them through a biblical perspective. We incorporate age-appropriate art activities, large and small motor skills, and Biblical principles into these weekly themes. This curriculum provides children opportunities to explore the world while allowing them to develop at his/her own pace. Special Events are scheduled throughout the year coordinating with the weekly themes.

To provide a ministry of excellence, exaltation, edification, encouragement, evangelism, and education.

To reach the lost for Christ (John 1:11-12).

To reach people through the power of Christ by telling the happy, young, old, homeless, bound, crippled, poor, fatherless, hungry, addicted, forsaken, blind, lame, lonely, and the forgotten, that Jesus loves them (John 3:16-17).

To ensure that this ministry teaches the word of God in season and out of season, to educate the young and old through grade school, daycare services, and Bible school.

To operate in faith (Hebrew 11:1) and to fulfill its duty to the community by being an example for daily Christian living.

Our Vision is being and making disciples of Jesus.

At La Mies Church we believe:

  • in the inspiration of the Scriptures
  • in God as the only true God
  • in the Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ
  • in the fall of man but also in the salvation of man through the sacrifice of Jesus
  • in the ordinances of the church
  • in the baptism of the Holy Spirit
  • in the sanctification of the believer
  • in the Church and its mission
  • in the ministry, divine healing, the blessed hope, the millennial kingdom of Christ, the final judgment
  • in the new heavens and the new earth.

The heart of our Pastors is to establish the vision of Jesus in each person, being and making disciples, loving and serving God with all their soul, mind, heart, and strength; loving and serving others as oneself.

God loves us and works in us before we even know that God is there. God's grace changes how we understand ourselves as individuals and as a society. And once we accept the love and grace of God in us, we are so moved that we feel joy, peace, happiness, and a drive to spread that love around us. We must be sacramental agents in the world because we are so moved by the love of God. We must become a means of grace.

Making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Our spiritual goal as United Methodists is to embody the love of neighbor in a constant and consistent fashion, but when people look at us, all they see is the love of God shining forth from us. This is our understanding of God's grace working in us.
