Community Counselors help people who are uninsured, whose existing coverage does not provide mental health services benefits, who are low-income and lack the money to pay for counseling services, or who would not receive treatment any other way.

Counseling services are provided by trained, licensed professional counselors, licensed clinical social workers, and licensed marriage and family counselors. Sessions are private and conducted in a safe and familiar environment such as churches and community centers.

The first meeting with a counselor is free. A modest fee based on a sliding fee scale is collected for each follow-up session; however, no one is denied service because they cannot pay.

An appointment must be scheduled in advance.

If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of a mental or behavioral health condition, not having someone to confide in or not knowing how to navigate available resources can make matters even worse.

The Bridges to Care program at Windcrest United Methodist Church offers mental and behavioral health support that includes:

  • Confidentiality
  • A compassionate listening ear
  • Help finding educational resources
  • Help connecting with professional service providers
  • Help connecting with peer and family support groups

Wellness Champions at Windcrest United Methodist Church have received training from NAMI San Antonio to be companions to those struggling with mental and behavioral health concerns.

Please reach out if you or someone close to you would benefit from their support.

The San Antonio Food Bank will distribute food on the first Thursday of each month to serve the projected 250 households with much-needed nourishment. Food insecurity is still a reality, and with the summer months approaching and kids out of school, the need for food increases. While Supplies Last, first come, first serve.

We ask for YOUR help. We need your plastic grocery bags (about 500 every month), volunteers to welcome and register our "neighbors," and bags of groceries to help get these bags of food in cars as they drive through the food line.

The food truck will arrive between 7:00 AM and 8:30 AM, and the food distribution will be from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Please consider how you may help and see how the community comes together in need.

Requirements:

  • Application with Household Members and Information

Free.

We believe in the forgiving grace of God. We also believe in extending grace toward one another. That means that we can be authentic about who we are and the things about which we struggle. In a world that admires getting ahead, we believe Christ is the one who makes us whole. We are all equal in our need for him. There are many places in our church life where you can receive and extend grace - retreats, small groups, worship services, Sunday School classes, mission trips,
ministry opportunities.

Join us in person or watch live online.

A Wesley Nurse is a faith-based community nurse. The professional practice of the Wesley Nurse is not limited to the physical dimension of medical needs; rather, it includes a mind, body and spirit holistic approach.

Programs and services include:

  • Health education
  • Individualized diabetes education
  • Diabetic supplies
  • Referral assistance
  • Facilitation of resources
  • Exercise classes

While the Wesley Nurse program is a component of Methodist Healthcare Ministries' ecumenical outreach and located within churches, it does not teach a set of denominational beliefs.

All members of the community are welcome.

Free.

By appointment only
