The Get FIT (Families in Training) program is a preventive program aimed at averting Type II diabetes, obesity, and sedentary lifestyles for school-aged children and their families.

The program is offered throughout the academic year at various school districts, and in the summer as a one-month youth summer camp. Camp Brainstorm is a five-day, four-night overnight summer camp experience where youth with epilepsy come together and enjoy all the fun activities and friendships that come with a trip to camp, while leaving behind various challenges epilepsy can bring to their daily lives. They are all surrounded-some for the first time-by dozens of other kids who know exactly what having epilepsy means. There are no worries about what people will think if they had a seizure or if they will be excluded from activities just because they are different. At Camp Brainstorm, epilepsy is the norm.

From swimming to kayaking to rock climbing, all campers get to experience the fun activities of camp, while in a safe and medically monitored setting. In the months leading up to camp, Foundation staff build relationships with the campers, as well as their parents, and develop a solid grasp of their needs. This ensures an unforgettable camp experience.

Summer camp experience for youth with epilepsy ages 8–17.

Through a wide variety of activities and services, we have developed a proven series of programs that will provide the most comprehensive and positive environment for our clients. We provide clean, safe and stimulating areas designed to instill a sense of comfort and peacefulness, while educating and counseling those with special needs and giving them chances to succeed in many facets of everyday life.

Community Volunteer Opportunities
Making a strong connection with the community is very important for developmentally challenged individuals. Volunteering in community projects helps to strengthen those connections. These volunteering opportunities helps our folks build a stronger sense of self-worth. For this reason Stepping Stones makes every effort to locate volunteer opportunities for our people.

Job Coaching
Some of our folks have jobs when they join our program and some are wanting to find jobs. We offer job training to help those with jobs improve their skills to make it easier for them to keep working. And we offer assistance for those looking for work. As a team the staff frequently meet to assess our folks' job performances and then offer suggestions on how to help them improve.

Health Coaching
When health issues make it necessary for special needs people to make lifestyle changes it can be frightening and confusing. We, at Stepping Stones Day Hab, help guide them through the confusion by providing an on site Certified Integrative Nutrition Coach. Our Health Coach works with the individual’s team of health care professionals developing a plan of action that will address their health concerns. Once this plan is in place the Health Coach directs them on how to follow it.

This program is for adults with intellectual or developmental disorders (IDD).

Disc Golf Info: The Pearsall Park disc golf course was designed by Rialto Studios and professional disc golfer Paul Taylor. The course consist of 18 holes, total course length of 5,680 feet for a total par of 58.

Have fun, enjoy the fresh air, and get some exercise with disc golf fun on your own. Disc golf rules are similar to those used in club golf. The game is played like ball golf using a flying disc and trying to toss it into pole baskets. Like regular golf, it's a lot harder than it looks! One point is scored each time the disc is thrown and when a penalty is incurred. The object is to acquire the lowest score.

The courses are unstaffed and available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Be sure to bring your own discs!

Admission is free.

While park hours are 5 AM to 11 PM, the courses are not lighted and are suitable for use during daylight hours.
