Provided in the recognition that change and growth continue through the life cycle, and with the awareness that the older person may have particular needs. While with us, team members learn skills such as client interactions, daily housekeeping, merchandising, and counting stock; all while gaining confidence and the skills they need to apply for a job out in our community.

Mission Road Developmental Center’s Community Employment & Job Coaching Program helps match adults with IDD and employers who are eager to have them on their team.

ISS Day Activity Program:

In order to keep a job, MRDC provides ongoing employer support. The Not-So-Secret to our Success? Job Coaches!

While the ISS services program is funded by the Medicaid waiver programs of HCS/TxHmLv and DBMD, we accept individuals funded through CLASS, ICF, GR, and private pay. Please note we do not accept Medicaid such as Molina, Star Plus, or other HMOs.

Care coordination is provided in Bexar and surrounding counties, but anyone may attend support groups or access peer mentoring in person or virtually.

Currently, we are providing services for people with:

All of our groups are offered to people with disabilities and their loved ones/caregivers.

Our services are offered at no cost, regardless of income or insurance status.

Our peer support group, which meets twice a month, provides an upbeat place for individuals with spinal cord injuries and their caregivers to connect with other people who have experienced the same life-changing injury.

The meetings are an excellent way for members to share resources, ideas, and information while enjoying fellowship in a relaxed setting.

In addition to guest speakers and discussions on topics of interest, meetings also include quarterly social and recreational outings.

A monthly learning opportunity for family members, community members, and educators who are interested in supporting and working with individuals with Down syndrome.

Sibshops are lively, pedal-to-the-metal events where they will:

• Talk about the good and not-so-good parts of having a sib with special needs with others who “get it”
• Play some great games
• Learn how other brothers and sisters handle sticky situations sometimes faced by brothers and sisters
• Learn about the services their brothers and sisters receive
