San Antonio Community Resource Directory

StandByMe was created in 2006 to support at-risk youth in our community in search of support, guidance and God’s love.

Our mission is to help transform the lives of Texas Hill Country kids through 101 Christian mentoring relationships.

StandByMe is a mentoring program that WORKS by matching a Christian adult with a student who has asked for a mentor. StandByMe has an incredible track record of success as we have seen God transform the lives of the students and the mentors alike! A unique aspect of SBM is that families of the children in SBM, benefit from all the resources of HCDBM Family Mentoring Ministry. We believe that when our families are strong, so are the kids!

We hold firmly to a 6 pillar framework that leads to successful mentoring:

  • Case Management - Ongoing match support and training of Mentors
  • Summer Camp - Christian camp opportunities for Mentees
  • Summer Leadership Academy - A Summer program teaching leadership skills
  • Enrichment - Life skill opportunities for matches
  • Celebrations - Mentor and Mentee recognition and appreciation events
  • Family Support - Strong families, strong kids! Families are eligible for HCDBM Family Mentoring Resources

Now leading our Bulverde Campus, Pastor Alfredo teams up with an incredible group of Rockstars to see lives [re]defined every single weekend. He loves people, loves having a great time with family and friends, and enjoys any opportunity to cook for the team or campus.

WHAT WE BELIEVE
At NorthRock Church, we are rooted in eternal truths, the teachings of the Bible. We are guided by the following Biblical foundational beliefs and shaping values:

  •  GOD
  • THE BIBLE
  • JESUS CHRIST
  • SALVATION
  • BAPTISM
  • THE HOLY SPIRIT
  • THE CHURCH

Read more about our Theological Truths here.

4 Things We Do https://www.northrocksa.com/about-2/ -

  1. Connect to God - We exist to CONNECT people to Jesus and NorthRock: Our first purpose as a church is to help the spiritually disconnected, connect with Jesus.
  2. Grow Your Faith - We exist to GROW in our faith together: Discipleship growth is helping believers attain spiritual maturity.
  3. Discover Your Design - We exist to DISCOVER our design: Discover what God has created you to be and do. Design reveals destiny.
  4. Live Your Purpose - We exist to LIVE out our purpose: Step into your purpose for God’s Kingdom. This is what “life [re]defined” looks like. Investing in others above yourself.

At NorthRock Church in Bulverde, we exist to see lives redefined. Every Sunday, we have church services where you can experience uplifting worship music, encouraging messages from our pastors, a special kids program, and opportunities for you to get connected —and it all starts here!

Worship service is traditional in style and brimming with substance. We sing familiar hymns, pray with and for each other, and hear dynamic sermons from our pastor.

“Come as you are” describes perfectly how we dress for worship! You can roll on in your jeans, your Sunday best, or your Sunday best jeans. Be comfortable! We will only shower you with acceptance, try to make you feel welcome, and act to assure you of God’s love.

St. Mark is a place for team members, not spectators. Whether you are 5 or 95, busy rearing children, busy building a career, or busy enjoying retirement, we want you to be a part of this vibrant church community. Here are some ways to learn, serve, and grow at St. Mark:
  • Attend worship, and stay after for coffee and snacks in the Hospitality Center.
  • Check out Sunday School classes in the Family Life Center.
  • Participate in activities. We have 5th Sunday lunches, all-church advent and epiphany events, many youth and intergenerational gatherings throughout the year as well as study groups, sewing groups, lunch groups, book clubs, etc, that meet during the week.
  • Drop off your kids for First Friday parents’ night out, September through May.
  • Teens should definitely check out the Wednesday evening Youth Group.
  • Join a ministry team such as Property, Worship, Communications, Children/Youth or Adult Christian Education, Congregational Life, Outreach, etc.

Worship service is at 10:30 AM each Sunday, both in person and live-streamed on YouTube. Worship styles alternate between traditional and contemporary. On the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays, worship is more traditional with the Chancel Choir; on the 2nd and 4th Sundays, worship includes contemporary music with the praise band and singers. In months with 5 Sundays, there is always an all-church lunch after worship. It’s tradition!

Sunday School classes for all ages meet before worship at 9:15 AM and Nursery Care is available.

St. Mark offers many classes and opportunities to learn, serve, and grow your faith alongside this church family. Christian Education Director Angela Grover would love to help you discover opportunities. Just ask!

Please fill out a Connect Card so we can reach out to you. To access the online form Click Here.

We worship together each Sunday at 10:30 AM, offering a traditional service on the 1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays of the month and a more contemporary one on the 2nd and 4th Sundays. Sunday school classes for all ages are held before worship, starting at 9:15 AM. Children 4 and older attend Children’s or Youth Sunday School, Then children in kindergarten and older attend worship with their parents.

Being a mom is challenging and sometimes a lonely job. Here at MOPS, we gather together and support moms of preschoolers. We believe in the simple but revolutionary idea that remarkable things happen the moms come together. If you are a mom of a preschooler (pregnancy through Kindergarten) and you need some “grown up” time, then we have the place for you!

If you are a mom of a school-aged child (1st–12th Grade), MOMSNext is for you! As moms, and their kids, enter the school year, new challenges and issues arise, but the need for community and support are the same.

At Boerne MOPS we…

  • Prayer & Devotional time
  • Quality curriculum based childcare while we meet
  • HOT Coffee & Breakfast
  • Speakers & videos to learn from and give you parenting help
  • Small groups to make deep connections and friendships with other moms
  • Crafts and fun activities for all skill levels

Both groups meet at the same time and the same place, but have separate small group discussion groups. You find an open, accepting place for all moms to experience authentic friendships, personal growth, practical help, and spiritual hope!

Liturgy of the Hours:

St. Benedict placed a high value on the Liturgy of the Hours, exhorting his monks that “nothing is to be preferred to the Work of God.” Throughout the centuries, the Liturgy of the Hours has remained a defining element of monastic life.

The Liturgy of the Hours, based on the psalms and prayed daily in the monastery, is a means of praising God. This prayer is a means for us to remember the needs of all people in every part of the world, and an opportunity for the community members to reflect and transform their own lives. This daily, sustained attentiveness to God, characteristic of monastic prayer, engenders a contemplative spirit which flows into all other aspects of our lives. With one’s heart resting in God’s abiding presence, all of our work, activities, and ministry become a prayer.

Guests are welcome at both the Liturgy of the Hours and at the Eucharistic Liturgy.

The Benedictine Sisters pray multiple times daily, and we would be happy to remember your special intentions in our prayers.
