The HandsOn Program of Mission Road provides quality residential care and day activities for persons with multiple disabilities.

The services are designed for individualized training that facilitates the acquisition and/or enhancement of skills in communication, personal care, daily living skills and recreation.

Services are provided in the least restrictive environment while promoting the safety, care and welfare of all participants.

Requirements for this program: 

• Children and adults
• Must have a diagnosis of legal blindness, a hearing impairment that affects their speech, and a disabling condition that affects their independent functioning
• Must meet the criteria for Medicaid Eligibility
• The program serves 24 persons who meet the criteria

Free To Be is our Individualized Skills & Socialization Program located on our Main Campus, Mission Road Developmental Center – on the city’s south side. We provide a stimulating environment for adults with IDD (intellectual and other developmental disabilities) and mild to severe medical needs. We do this by providing both person-centered on-site and off-site activities. Through the years, this program has been referred to as adult day care, adult day hab (habilitation), and DAHS (Day Activity Health Services). 

Details:

• Located on our 22-acre campus on the banks of the San Antonio River near Mission San Juan
• For adults with differing levels of disability
• Provides care for the physical, mental, medical, and social needs of our clients
• Serves adults who may not be eligible for traditional day services due to the extent of their disability

Led by a Registered Nurse, our compassionate care professionals provide in-home support for children with disabilities such as spina bifida or cerebral palsy, as well as children with intellectual or developmental delays. These services may include assistance with feeding, transferring and repositioning, bathing or other daily needs.

Our goal as care professionals is to ensure that children with disabilities and special needs are receiving the care they need and the support they deserve. Experienced care professionals are ready to assist with:

• Bath visits
• Feeding
• Transferring/Repositioning
• Dressing
• Grooming
• Oral and personal hygiene
• Toileting
• Reporting conditions and changes to supervisory RN and/or physician

Texas HCS (TX HCS) is our company that provides HCS services (Home and Community-Based Services) in our Beaumont, Harlingen, McAllen, and San Antonio service regions…offering 3 and 4 person group residences, along with the entire array of available HCS services since 1993 in San Antonio and McAllen, since 2000 in Beaumont, and most recently since 2007 in Harlingen.

In the Arc's Adult Life Enrichment Program, we build upon the education that our participants received while in the school system by providing community and site-based programming at two facilities.

Our domain-based curriculum focuses on strengthening life skills within an environment conducive to growth and socialization. Many things set The Arc apart as a premier provider of direct-care services, some of which include: Full-Time Nursing staff, which allows us to care for individuals needing more physical assistance and to provide an educational focus on healthy lifestyle choices, a fleet of accessible vehicles, which help facilitate community-based programming, and a Volunteer Involvement Program, which allows our participants to serve the community through partnerships with Meals on Wheels, The San Antonio Food Bank, local animal shelters, and more!

Behavioral Supports: The Arc provides behavioral support services for our Life Enrichment Program participants on an individual basis and works with individual Arc participants to address and modify behaviors that may be problematic for the participant and their families.

The overall goal of behavior support is to improve the quality of life for the individual. Behavior supports will utilize the application of applied behavior analysis and target socially significant behaviors. Those targets are identified as a result of a thorough assessment (i.e. skill or behavioral) and could address areas such as:

• Functional communication (i.e. development and utilization of a communication system);
• Social Skills (i.e. initiating and reciprocating greetings, sharing/turn-taking with others, accepting no, waiting);
• Daily Living Skills (i.e. wiping tables, identifying the value of currency, washing dishes, preparing a meal);
• Behavior enhancement procedures (i.e. increasing compliance, increasing participation in activities)
• Behavior reduction procedures (i.e. decreasing incidents of aggression, classroom disruptions, verbal outbursts).
• All behavioral interventions are individualized and aim to increase functional living skills.

Program eligibility requirements:

• Diagnosis of an intellectual and/or developmental disability (IDD), autism spectrum, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, or dual diagnosis with IDD.
• Are 18 or older.
• Have state program funding or the ability to pay privately for program fees.
  
  

ICF facilities are 6-bed group homes funded by Medicaid. These homes are certified and licensed by the state to provide a full range of training and care to individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

ICF group homes include:

• 24-hour nursing support
• Therapy
• Nutritional and dietary supports
• Behavior supports
• Medical and dental support not funded by Medicaid
• Active training to master new skills

This program is for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities (IDD).

All services are paid by Medicaid and personal income is managed by the provider, representative payee, or the client. If the client works, a percentage of earnings is refunded to Medicaid. SSDI (Social Security Disability Income) funds can continue with a percentage repaid to Medicaid.

RMI's Life Enrichment Day Program provides life skills training and social activities that help adults with developmental disabilities live and work successfully in the community.

The Life Enrichment curriculum includes training in personal care and hygiene, communication skills, academic skills, and job preparation.

Parties, group projects, and community outings provide opportunities for social, educational, and cultural experiences.

This program is for individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities (IDD).

RMI’s Life Enrichment Day Program provides life skills training and social activities that help adults with developmental disabilities live and work successfully in the community. The Life Enrichment curriculum includes training on personal care and hygiene, communication skills, academic skills, and job preparation. Parties, group projects, and community outings provide opportunities for social, educational, and cultural experiences.

Reaching Maximum Independence takes pride in providing one of San Antonio's finest Job Placement Programs for people with disabilities. Through a network with the Texas Workforce Vocational Rehabilitation Services (TWS-VRS), local employers, as well as trained and experienced staff, participants receive an array of services designed to enhance employment. Multi-Assistance Center (MAC)
Reaching Maximum Independence is happy to announce that we have partnered with the Multi-Assistance Center (MAC) to provide Work Experience Placement (WEP) and Work Experience Training (WET) services!

Selected individuals will work alongside qualified staff who have the Job Placement and/or Job Skills Trainer credential. The selected individual will gain the necessary knowledge and skills while at The Mac to obtain competitive and integrated employment.

Work experience services are intended to be short-term (12 or fewer weeks) and part-time.

ISS Day Activity Program:

The Individualized Skills and Socialization Program (formerly known as Day Activity) is hosted at our Unicorn Centers campus and provides the people in our care with an active, vibrant day program. Our ISS program includes both on-site and off-site activities and is completely person-centered.
